I've heard of a few minor hints in regard to something like this happening for quite a while. I would say that this trailer is, believe it or not, real. (They even have Lucasfilms copyrights in there...)

My personal opinion is that a live action version of this would make it a lot more dramatic and help it live up to classic Star Wars, but I guess I need to get with the times.
While the plot may be good, I believe that this movie will be difficult to take seriously due to the animation style, and because live action Star Wars, with computer-generated effects designed to look real, will make this new movie a really awkward experience for the fans of the six other movies.
We'll see how it turns out in August though!

EDIT: Just watched it again and to be brutally honest, I can't get the term "kiddie movie" out of my head...this whole animation thing is really throwing me off.

EDIT Once more: Just looked on Wikipedia, their sources indicate (for what it's worth), that the movie will be rated PG, and it is intended to precede a computer-animated series on the "Cartoon Network". (Don't know if the Europeans get this channel, but as the name implies, it is basically a kid's cartoon channel.)
My "kiddie movie" comment currently stands... Undecided

That trailer looks pretty bad.

C'mon, they have invested enough into making realistic looking models and programs so far... may aswell use what they have.

The concept is good from what I can see, but having it look like so cheap brings it down a lot. Star Wars should make you wonder if the things are real... not look like the Bratz TV show.

Yeah, kiddie movie also comes to my mind.  More like "12 year olds who swing broomsticks around pretending to be Obi Won fighting the sith" movie.

I suppose thats why it looks like those Bratz characters on the TV show.

But I still think they could have put in a bit more of an effort with the effects... it just looks bad. Sad

Being a huge Star Wars fan and not having read what anybody else said, this is an animated cartoon for cihldren and is intended, again, for children. It is a chlidren's series for Cartoon Network (already said ((okay I di read a few others)) ) and not intended to look amazing. Although when I was watching this on Yahoo the other day, I was a little disappointed, mostly with what the whole thing is about. However if you think about it, if they were to look as good as the movies they would take years to make: "On the next episode of The Clone Wars...Don't miss it on May 10, 2010."

Now after reading them: Oh man you're killing me! What do you mean n you've never seen Star Wars! Report immediatley to your local video store and rent all six and watch them in order with popcorn and soda and candy and a lot of coffee for the 14 some odd hours (Which I have actually done, minus the coffee. Just me, the chair, food, and the remote.)(I calculated the time down to the second once, don't know where I wrote it down though. Took the times from the back of the cases. Grin). Side effects may include feelings of power, living, and a bit exhaused. Legs may be asleep for 2-3 hours afterward.

By the way, this is the long anticipated, next big Star Wars thing that Star Wars.com can't shut up about, and this is what it is.

Edit: See, this is the homepage I just got:

As yet another Star Wars junkie I'm pleased that ANYTHING Star Wars is still being made, as Lucas said before he wasn't going to make any more. Looks quite fun to me, will just take some time to get used to. And a new generation of kids into Star Wars may eventually persuade Lucas/his backers just how much money could be made from a third trilogy... Smiley
