Having crates of PC Games filling my bedrooms up, dating back over ten years, I get a bit worried about up dating my operating system...Win 5, '98. 98SE, XP, (Vista?), regarding compatibility... Roll Eyes...!

Vista would give me even more problems!

Even now, I often have to Boot up my second Hard Drive with its Win '98SE operating system, and re-install my old 3DFX Voodoo Graphics cards, to be able run many of my lovely "old" Games.. Shocked...!

Most/all of my favourite games date back many years ago, so I have to be very cautious when/if upgrading Operating Systems, Graphics Cards, etc... Wink...!

Paul....Doom and Gloom...and Duke Nukem 3D!... Grin....!

May be little need to fret Paul. My dad just recently bought a HP Media Center PC running Vista and it seems to have no problem handling the older programs. well so far anyway.  Wink

Every now and again I am brought up sharply when attempting to run some of my older software programs, to realise that my present piece of hardware, software program, etc will no longer work even with Windows XP SP2...let alone Vista!

To run some of my software programs requires reinstalling my Windows '98SE to operate much of my old hardware; Graphics Cards, Sound cards, joysticks, etc.....often because they were only designed to run under Win '98 and the later drivers for them are not available!

A classic example: The fantastic Creative Labs Soundblaster Live! 1024 Sound card, with the fantastic Emu (synthesizer) sound chip. It was only designed to work under Win '98SE, and was not recognised under Win XP, and would not work!. It took much searching, with the help of Alex, to find a suitable modern driver!
I find the "Windows"Compatibility Mode" rarely works... Cry...!

Much of my older Win Versions, older drivers, older hardware, etc, are necessary to run my older Software!

Fortunately.....I NEVER throw anything away... Smiley...!

Paul....Win 5...Win '98SE...Win XP....and 3DFX Voodoo Cards!...Wink..!

Installing Windows Vista would forever trap me in "Modern Times"... Shocked... Shocked... Shocked...!

.... Grin....!
