Really a great game. There's a free Addon "Grey Wolves 2.0" Expansion pack. It adds more realism and inclodes better models / effect....

Worth the download.
You'll get some info here:

Cheers,
Fabian

Just searched for the files again:

Their GWX's homepage:
http://gwx.mysite.orange.co.uk/

The new subs look like this:

The torrent file for download:

Edit; I'll do some advert here now:
Quote:
GWX is a FREEWARE ADD-ON to Ubisoft’s Silent Hunter III that immerses you in the role of a German submarine (Unterseeboot or “U-boat”) commander during World War II. GWX offers improved realism and environments, as we see them, without radically changing the way you play the game. Some of the things we have changed include:

    * A new damage model. Ships hit by one torpedo generally take longer to sink (by flooding) but players can sink them more rapidly by using two or more torpedo hits to inflict massive structural damage; the deck gun is now largely ineffective unless you hit ships at or below the waterline
    * Engaging surface ships in gunnery combat is more dangerous since ships generally have more guns and can shoot more quickly and accurately than submarines, as they did historically
    * Engaging aircraft is more dangerous since aircraft are more resistant to antiaircraft fire, and some carry antisubmarine rockets later in the war
    * The Allied anti-U-boat campaign is initially weak but eventually becomes very strong, with historical antisubmarine minefields, stronger harbor defenses, bombing raids on U-boat pens, air interdiction in the Bay of Biscay, and antisubmarine hunter-killer groups
    * Sensor tweaks allow aircraft and surface ships to behave more realistically towards U-boats

New stuff in GWX:

    * Terrain: the Kiel Canal, Panama Canal, Suez Canal, and Scapa Flow
    * Weapons: machine guns and antisubmarine rockets
    * Historical equipment: schnorchel-mounted radar warning antennas, rotating radar antennas, and rotating radio direction-finding antennas
    * Countries: 25 new countries with naval and air orders of battle, flags, and aircraft markings
    * Warships from Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Soviet Union, and the United States including AI-controlled submarines – 39 in all
    * Naval auxiliaries and merchant ships – 25 in all, and several ships are now illuminated to represent some (but not all) neutral shipping
    * Aircraft from Germany, Great Britain, Japan, the Soviet Union, and the United States – 17 in all
    * Environmental objects, including shipwrecks, bridges, dolphins, lighthouses, and the Möltenort U-boat memorial
    * Campaign items:
o The Black Sea theatre of operations
o The Indian Ocean and Southwest Pacific theatre of operations
     o 13, 23 and 30 flotillas
o Penang, Jakarta, Constanza, Salamis and Trondheim player bases
o German surface ship sorties into the North Atlantic and Arctic oceans
o The invasion of Norway, the evacuation at Dunkirk, and the invasion of Normandy
o “Milchkuh” resupply submarines and covert U-boat resupply ships
o The War in the Mediterranean with new convoy routes, historical amphibious invasion fleets and reinforcement convoys to Malta and Egypt, and naval engagements between overlapping random patrol areas for British and Italian warships.

All in all well worth the 1,5Gb download  Smiley
