Hi all, here I am uploading my first pictures of my simulator. I have used tons of ideas from this forum through discussions and uploaded pictures. As we all know it is time consuming and never ending. I think it is only 50% complete and a lot of wiring has to be done. The gauges are frozen in the pictures, I used them just for shooting pictures.
I am using open cockpit's circuits for autopilot function and am also trying to modify a small amplifire to be used for online flying instead of connecting the headset directly to the pc. I will assign the toggles on the pedestal some functions to avoid the keyboard.
God knows when this thing is going to get finished. It has already chewed a good sixteen months and over head is on the way.  May be wife will kill me before that Smiley

I have forgotten everything to build this. I think you mean I posted without the pictures the first time, right?

ermias,

Well... the wait for some pix of what you were doing was worth it.  NICE JOB!!!!!

Did you build that throttle quad?  If so, do you have construction pictures you could post?

Congratulations.

Now we need a section here on how to placate the wife as we pursue this insanity.  Wink

best,

Thank you all for the kind words.
Rottydaddy, you are right the toy is begging for big display. I am working on that ... at least a huge tv if not flat screen. I thought of 3X head 2 go with three flat screens, but I think it was John who suggested the total cost would be close to the price of a projector. So I am shying away from the idea and leaning towards the projector.

John, yes I built the trhrottle myself. I have some pictures that I will post, but it still needs to be wired. I have the gears and the pots to beconnected to a circuit I got from groovygamegear. I will also have visit a junk yard to get a carsit.

I like the idea to have a section where the wives vent about our insanity and calm themselves Smiley.

ermias,

I think you will be VERY happy with a projected image.  I know I am.  Yes, it loses some resolution compared with a flat screen, but the pickup in "feel" of realism is amazing.

I agree w-JB on this, I just started using a beamer and I am absolutely kicking my own ass for not getting one 3-5 yrs ago, simply awesome, and if the kids want to watch a movie drive in style on the side of the house @ night it works for that too.

P4 duo 3.4,  4 gb ram dual geforce 5200's running a projector, 3 monitors, a simpit with Ch Throttle Quad, pedals, yoke, a hacked up and extended force feedback, a real Garmin 396 using gpsout, freetrack head tracking, a  F-16 seat, and yes the seat cushion can be used as a floatation device......really!&&&&...

Hi, here are a few pictures taken at the time I started building the throttle. It is not finished and many parts are missing. I will try to make it the next projet for the summer. Good thing is nothing is glued. I used plywood for the body and thin sheet metal as a cover. (I am not a good carpenter, don't look at it very hard Wink)
Thank you all for all the comments.

Mobius,
Thank you for the compliment, yes the thought of getting a car sit has been around for a while. At the beginning of this summer I will do that and finish the throttle's wiring. I will also have to fix the MIP's layout a little. The engine display is a little off-centered to the left.
