F1 GP Spain: Your predictions (Read 2214 times)
Apr 20th, 2008 at 4:26pm
CD.   Ex Member

A day early for this one as I forgot to post the last two races on the Monday  Tongue

The first European race at a circuit EVERY team and driver know like the back of their hands due to the testing programmes carried out there over the winter and recently too.

McLaren need to get back on the ball for this one but can anybody stop Ferrari? Can BMW stay ahead of the "Big Two" in the constructors championship?
Will Super Aguri even make the starting line up?

And...

Can anyone catch Matt?..  Wink

Predictions close 1200BST Saturday

If theres a track BMW could win on, this will be it. But only if they qualify 1st. Their cars have done okay in testing here, but the Mclarens and Ferrari's are much quicker round the track over long runs.
Keep an eye on Renault here. They did okay in testing and lets face it, it's not a track that needs a high top speed.

Tricky one this, so im not really sure of the result!

How about :-

Massa
Kubica
Hamilton

Although i suspect a ferrari 1-2 is more likely but if mclaren can get there traction sorted, and BMW can pile on the pressure even more then who knows! Should be a cracking race Smiley

Im still a little suspect on the way massa won in bahrain, 'just when he needed to' much like kimis win in france last season, 'just when he needed it' both under pressure at the time, massa more so i fear, with the imminent arrival of alonso..... Grin*

He's already said he wont be attending. "has other plans"
I found it funny over the weekend he said he had "7 messages of support" for every message to step down. Yet aside from Bernie, I can't honestly remember hearing someone back him up. No wait, I believe some motorsport government in the middle east did. But surely if there were these messages of support from the bigger countries he'd have published them by now.
So far, the motorsport agencies of, Britain, France, Germany, Spain, America and canada, Australia and Bahrain have all call for him to step down. Not sure what big motorsport nation is left for him to have as backing. Quite frankly the go karting legends of papua new guinea arn't going to hold much weight in the FIA court room this june. Who do you think is next in line to head the FIA when Max goes? Wink
Your hardly going to upset the guy who's pretty much hand picked you for the job are you?
I think thats half the reason he's trying to stay on so long. So he can appoint the people he wants into the FIA rather than being booted out and someone else being voted in. Roll Eyes

Jean Todt, it goes without saying he will be the next president. I just find it amusing the way they go about supporting him. Well, I say "they" in the loosest terms...Bernie half hearted Ecclestone and Jean I want your job Todt..............I would still like to be a fly on the wall in the McLaren canteen at lunch time though Grin

Hamilton has a lot to prove this weekend and I’m un-decided as to who is less likely to finish in the top three between Hamilton and Massa. I’ve given Lewis the benefit of the doubt so far but I reckon I’m going to go with Massa this weekend.

1 Raikkonen
2 Massa
3 Kubica.

I had a funny thought while watching the race:  DC seems to be the "cranky old man in the cadillac" of the grid Grin

What an eventful race!

Shame about Heidfeld's situation though - essentially he was penalised for someone else crashing, which really threw his chances away.

Hopefully Kovalainen will prove to be OK!

Did everyone notice alonso nearly bin it on the 'parade' lap? That could have been interesting had he hit the wall!!!!

Good race though. Despite the safety car periods, seems ferrari couldnt run and hide as much as has been suggested.

Really thought Hamilton might have got massa towards the end. Oh well!

Shame he didn't. Would have served some of his "fans" right after their antics a few months ago in testing.

Interesting picture of Heikki's car on the Beeb:

I've just finished watching a recording of the race... quite eventful  Shocked

A justified result, although Lewis was looking like he might catch Felipe at one point I'd say Massa had enough in reserve to keep him at bay if the need arose.

And finally...

AT LAST!

A perfect 30 for Craig and Duck... well done lads  Smiley .... it's only taken 20+ predictions..  Wink

Seriously though great race, happy to share that one with Duck, and to be honest the way things were it wasn't a tough prediction. The Ferrari's are just that much quicker, and Lewis was due one.
Hopefully Heikki is okay.

Can I also point out in terms of race pace and control we're looking at a simmilar season to 2004. So if that trend continues next race, should we start taking bets on how early Ferrari and Kimi wrap up the title? Cheesy

To be fair it was the common sense, nothing going wrong prediction. Nothing happened in the race to affect the top four, other than stacking behind the SC.

Nicely done.
