***All Entries Included In The Museum!!!***

Welcome to Time Pilot. The objective here is to select an event from the past, present or future that aircraft of any type played a major role, then create a screenshot accurately depicting that event. You can take up to three journeys in the time machine, creating three screenshots and posting them in this  thread as a reply.
Image details and historical accuracy
are essential for each "event screenshot", so take your time, search for appropriate add-ons and try to re-create (or create if you choose to fly into the future) the mood specific to your event. This is open to freeware, and 2 of your 3 shots must be non edited. You must as well include a date and a very brief description or title of each event screenshot you post. Clickable thumbnails or links only please. The contest runs until April30.

As you place your shots in the Time Vault, they'll be judged by an anonymous panel then only the finest will be put into the Aviation Museum for permanent display. So strap into the Time Machine, think about your first destination and use all your screenart skill and imagination in creating the perfect "Time Shot".
If you'd like to post a comment or question about this competition, feel free to do so here, as a reply in this thread.

If you haven't signed up and are interesting in flying the time machine, go to the intro "Time Pilot" thread here at the Studio and add your name.

Danny,

Could you please clarify the definition of "non-edited" screenshots?

Thanks.

Non-edited means after the shot is taken, there can be no altering the pic, apart from cropping. ie. sharpening, adjusting hue, color density. It must be the raw shot.  Smiley

Do all three have to be posted at the same time? Also, if we can do future shots, how do we include historical accuracy?

So cropping is okay, as opposed to the standard resizing?

Cropping is fine. As far as historical accuracy for shots in the future, we'll replace the word historical with imaginative. Create your own "history".  Wink The shots don't have to be submitted at the same time. Take your time for each one, try to create something authentic and creative.

Here is my first one.

Testing the F/A-37.

April 7th, 2027

...

Three prototype F/A-37 Talons get ready for flight testing at Edwards AFB. The Talon is the newest Advanced Tactical Fighter to come off the Lockheed-Boeing lines, designed to replace the aging F-22 for the Air Force and fill a niche in the Navy left open by the retirement of the F-14 in 2006. Military planners have said that this may be the last manned fighter in the inventory, with the rising use of advanced UCAVs. After the U.S. - EU war, America is now the unquestioned leader in military technology.

My Salute to Pancho Barnes - 1953

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/PanchoBarnes032909.jpg

After the War Edwards Air Force Base became the main research center investigating flight at high mach numbers and high altitudes.  A new breed of test pilots arrived to fly the rocket powered X-series of research aircraft.  The pilots lived a highly stressful life and Pancho's provided the place to relax and unwind.  After Chuck Yeager made the first supersonic flight in 1947 it seemed only natural to go to Pancho's to celebrate.  The Government withheld news of the flight for security reasons and Pancho became one of the first people outside the Air Force to learn of Yeager's feat.  Pancho rewarded him with a free steak dinner with all the trimmings and so started a tradition for pilots making their first supersonic flight.  In 1953 at the worst possible time a still mysterious late night fire burned half the ranch complex to the ground, destroying an irreplaceable treasure-trove of Hollywood and aviation memorabilia.

AC, Scenery, and Trees from SimV (of course!!)

Here is my second one:

Amelia Earhart – Around the World Trip

July 2, 1937

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/HowlandIsland032908.jpg

The world's most famous female aviator disappeared in 1937, as she attempted to become the first woman to fly around the world.  With her navigator, Fred Noonan, her Lockheed Electra was last heard from about 100 miles from the tiny Pacific atoll.  To aid in radio communications, the U.S. Coat Guard cutter Itasca was stationed off Howland Island.  The Lockheed Electra took off from Lae at 0:00 Greenwich Mean Time.  8 hours later she called in to Lae for the last time.  At 19:30, Itasca received the following:

"KHAQQ calling Itasca. We must be on you but cannot see you...gas is running low..."

An hour later, the last message came in:

"We are in a line position of 157'- 337. Will report on 6210 kilocycles. Wait ,listen on 6210 kilocycles. We are running North and South."

President Roosevelt authorized an immediate search; no trace was ever found.

Paul Tibbets-The Lonesliest Man

August Sixth, Nineteen Hundred and Fourty Five

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/langholz_hiroshima.jpg

The raging war in europe was over, and all but in the pacific. After taking the island of tinian in the west pacific, USAF heavy bombers were now able to reach mainland Japan with a six hour flight. At precisely 8:15 local hiroshima time, The Enola Gay piloted by Paul Tibbets of the 509th, dropepd the gravity bomb from 32,000 ft. called "little boy" and fifty seven seconds later the blast was heard around the world. Although it didn't have as much uranium as is brother "fat man" (hence its name little boy) the 130 pounds of uranium was enough. After "fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki days later, the Imperial Forces of Japan surrendered, ending WW2.

Aircraft found here at SimV, repaint done by myself.

AAHHHHH !!! Angry

i thought i saw somewhere that is was allowed, but i geuss not.

sorry clip, scratch one, I'm back to zero. Sad

edit:

but i would like to open up this can o worms. MY point being that there are so many events in aviation history that can't be represented by simply an un-edited screenshot. this shot for exaple, the hindenburg burning, space schuttle columbia blowing up.

If clip would allow it, I would like to modify the rules. One of our three submited can be edited..... Undecided

I really didn't want this comp to become an editing competition, but J, you've come up with a great solution.
One of the three submitted shots can be edited.
