I want to put the aircraft-specific gauges into the mini panels for some of my aircraft. Can I do this by simply editing the PANEL.CFG files to add a mini panel view and then inserting the correct gauges? (Basically using  a PANEL.CFG file that works the way I want as a template)

Also some aircraft come up with generic mini panels with seemingly no reference to a mini panel in their PANEL.CFG files, while others have no mini panel at all... Watzup?

Lastly, where/what are the default gauges used in the default mini panel? I would like to use the generic heading indicator in another main panel to replace the one that is already there. (The generic mini panel DG has no mounting screws, whereas the Cessna one, which looks similar, does.)

I know this is super-simple compared to some of the cool stuff you guys are working on, but ya gotta start somewhere.....
Help set me straight!

Thanks

Oh yeah, I'm using FS9

Yes, you can build a custom mini panel in the panel.cfg for any aircraft.

Whether your using FS9 or FSX look at the default 737 for a template/guide to adding a mini panel section.

The key is the 'ident=MINIPANEL' in your new [WindowXX]. If there is no [Windowxx] section with  'ident=MINIPANEL' then the generic mini panel is used.

You can also edit or build new 'aircraft type' mini panels for the generic mini panels (FS9..\Aircraft\Default\panel\panel.cfg or FSX...\Gauges\MiniPanel.cfg)

Gauges in the generic mini panels are from 'MiniPanel.cab', but any gauge can be used.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.
