BALLS! (but it was totally worth it). You've heard the story before, I get up early, go take pictures at my home airport, then go buy chocolate croissants and coffee.
They turned out grainier than I had wanted (forgot to change to iso:100). The frost makes it look grainier, in some places.

I agree! The first one is a stunner! Very well done...
The other shots could use a little leveling... I know I'm repeating myself over this, but it makes shots look less sloppy.

Oh, duh, level. As in to the horizon.
yeah, I'm starting to think that my brain leans to one side, making it hard for me to see these while I'm composing. I suppose I was in a hurry because I was beginning to lose feeling in my extremities. I've said it before: A tripod is on the list of things to get (but so was my new circular polarizer
).

I often have a slight angle too in my shots. The small viewfinder isn't ideal for composing exact level shots. But in the postprocessing you can easily change this, even with irfanview.
Even with a tripod you can have tilted shots.

Ok, in Iview, how do I get rid of the black around the image, after I've leveled and cropped?

First level, than crop so you don't get black in the frame. You can set a cropselection with fixed dimensions if you want. ex. 900 x 600. After that, resize if needed.
