Hello Chums... Wink...

After spending the past 10+ years, every day exploring at low level, every detail of the State of California from the air in the various Flight Sims, I thought it would be nice to explore the same (realistic) scenery from the ground for a change.

So....Truck Simulators....
Traveling Highway 1, and  Highway 101, from Los Angeles to San Francisco.

"Rig 'n Roll Truck Tycoon" seems to fill the bill, but I cant find a UK outlet who supply the Sim!

..almost as though the Sim hasn't been released yet!

Have you any opinions of the Sim, or a perhaps a better/alternative version, covering the same area?

Many thanks!...Wink...

Fozzer, It hast been released yet. It has Sept 2008 release date. So keep watching. I had a 2 truck sims and was not to happy with them. Either lots of glitches or really limited on destination. Gues Im spoiled by FS (no glitchers in it LOL). Chucked them both in file 13. I will be watching this one to see the response before I buy another one. How about Trainz. buddy of mine has it and loves it. Not for me me but it would keep you on the ground

Hello PK... Smiley...!

Many thanks for your response!... Wink...!

I tried MS Train Simulator many years ago, and although they are excellent, I was put off by the fact that your are constantly tied to where the Railway lines take you!... Huh..!

It least a Truck Sim would enable me to travel my own route, and visit the various Towns and Cities on the way.....hopefully!...Wink...!

Interesting, that you found some of the other Truck Sim versions disappointing.. Cry...!

Any more recommendations, Chums?

I'm a little prone to some degree of road rage, and I can't think of anything more irritating, or stressfull than fighting through the Californian traffic on my computer... Grin

...in the meantime...

Another one which seems to fit the bill very nicely....>>>>

"18 Wheels of Steel across America"

Covers the whole of North America.

I've just downloaded the 60 minute Demo Version which runs fantastically on my machine.

I now have the option of purchasing the Software Download to obtain the Key, but I would much rather purchase the "CD Version" in a Jewel Case.

The trouble is, after browsing the 'Net I cant find a UK Game Retailer who sells the Game!

Any ideas of a UK Game Supplier?
(I've tried the usual sources).

Cheers...!

Paul... Smiley...!

(I always prefer to buy CD versions of Software, if at all possible)

Finally bit the bullet....Wink..!

Tried the demo's of "18 Wheels of Steel. Across America", and the follow-up; "18 Wheels of Steel. Long Haul"

The latter was very "buggy", and often froze up, so I finally downloaded, and paid for, (£10 with Key), the Full Version of "18 Wheels of Steel. Across America"....>>>>

Covers the whole of the U.S.

An excellent program. Very pleased with it, so far... Smiley...!

Just read this tread. I've got 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin' for a long time now. Nice game but it's hard to find my directions. Guess I'm too spoiled with the GPS in FS.

Hello Carlo....

I tried the Demo's of both and went for "Wheels of Steel Across America" instead...(£10).
Fantastic Graphics, very stable, and it has a FANTASTIC colour, moving GPS Road Map showing all the routes and Highway numbers on the Map, and on the overhead Gantries.

Try the free 1 hour Demo...Wink...!

It's so good I ordered a Steering wheel and pedals for it today...(Trust: £24)*....
...how's that for enthusiasm!... Smiley...!

Paul.... Grin...!

P.S. "Long Haul" kept juddering, and crashing to desktop!

P.P.S....don't forget the Console "Cheats"!...Wink... Wink... Wink...!
