Does this software hurt your frames a lot? I was thinking about getting this, but I wanted some opinions first. Is it difficult to use? or should I say easy for the novice simmer to setup?

Thankx in advance Grin

hard to say really

Active Sky X is a weather engine so depending on what weather you are flying in will determine any FPS drop

but it does make the skies looks fantastic! worth it if you can support the clouds layers!

I have Active Sky X and Active Sky X graphics and love them both. Both are amazing products that are very easy to use and a great investment into your flight simming hobby.

Any type of weather addon or setting will have an effect on the FPS. If you run FSX quite smoothly now then chances Active sky will have little noticable effect. If you are running FSX at 10 FPS then clouds and weather will only make things worst.

But if you have 5 layers of dense clouds well that on any machine will have considerable performence hit. Wink

I don't use Active sky X or FSX but I have seen shots of people who have and it seems quite nice.

Very true what A1 said in his post. It all depends on your machine, if you're struggling with the stock weather then Active Sky might not be for you. But if your framerates are good then you will love Active Sky.

I don't like it because it gives me strange stutters every 20 seconds of use. Roll Eyes No visibility graduation between points either.

I would wait for the FEX weather engine. Smiley
