Race Types/Rules
Sport Class-
-Eligible aircraft include production model kit-built aircraft, powered by a reciprocating engine of 650 cu in. or less.
Formula One
-Formula One aircraft are all powered by a 100hp motor. Weights and sizes of every major engine part must be within stock limits. Race aircraft must weigh at least 500 pounds empty, and have a fixed landing gear and fixed pitch propeller.
Biplane
-The Biplane Class is represented by small, aerobatic aircraft like the Pitts Special, the Mong, and the Smith Miniplane.
T-6 Class
-The T-6 Class features match racing between "stock" aircraft including the original T-6 "Texan", the Canadian-built "Harvard", and the US Navy "SNJ" version.
Jet Class
The Jet Class was inaugurated in 2002 as an invitation-only class, featuring match racing with Czech-built Aerovodochody L-39 "Albatros" jets, racing at speeds in the 400+ mph range. In 2004, sponsorship and interest had developed to the point where the Class was opened to participation by any qualified pilot and aircraft. In 2007, the Class was further expanded to allow participation by any non-afterburning jet with less than 15° of wing sweep - aircraft like the Fouga Magister, North American T-2 Buckeye, Lockheed T-33, etc.
Unlimited Class
-The Unlimited Class is open to any piston-driven aircraft with an empty weight greater than 4500 pounds [the weight restriction was added in 2005]. Aside from a very few "scratch-built" aircraft, the Unlimited Class has generally been populated by stock or modified WWII fighters, the most-often-flown types including the P-51 Mustang, F-8F Bearcat, and Hawker Sea Fury. Aircraft speeds in the Unlimited Class reach 500 mph.
(Rules taken from the Reno Air Racing Association website)

I will fly the pace plane (an Extra 300S) for a pace lap at the start of each race.

Please provide a link to your aircraft, and tell which class it will be in.

If you are just doing the airshow please give a link to the aircraft.

For my personal FS 2004 Reno Air Races, I use this ready made course from.>>>

'Reno Air Racing' Course V-1

Have a peek at a screen shot of the Course...>>>

Race round the Pylons!...Try it. It's Fun! Cool...!

Paul..G-BPLF....FS 2004.

(The above scenery was designed for FS 2002, but works fine in FS 2004!).

Beware: The ground scenery, (elevation, etc), of FS 2004 and FSX is not always compatible.. Shocked...!

Note: The Air Race Course is at Reno Stead (4SD), 10 miles N/W of Reno Tahoe International Airport (KRNO), in the Desert.

Thanks for that Paul, but it won't work with FSX so I'll just use my scenery (it works in FSX & FS9).

Also I have updated the link for the race course scenery.

And just too clarify it is an Airshow & Race.

Apart from flying the pace plane I will fly the Acceleration Mustang in the Unlimited Class race, for people who don't have Acceleration please use this free model. http://www.gjsmith.net/Downloads/P-51D/Mustang-Aircraft.zip

I'll decide and let you know soon. couple of races... I would suggest just having the unlimited class race, followed by an airshow.

For the unlimited class race I will fly G-FURY. I will display in a P-38, De Havilland Vampire and I'll see if Buckeye + Mic would like to do a Horsemen display (If they don't I'll also solo the P-51).

Smiley

I'm not blowing off the show, just not sure if I can make it yet.  If so I can probably fly an act and might even race just to give everyone else someone to scream past!

Like peterram, I too would like to attend my first airshow...as a spectator.

I've got the 'paper plane', and you guys weren't kidding that it is indeed a paper airplane.  T'aint no engine to shut off  Roll Eyes

Also downloaded the Acceleration Mustang.  But since it was installed with an installer I don't know which one it is in my hangar as I have many Mustangs there.  Yeah I know, I should know them by name now, but sometimes I'm an 'impulse' downloader.

Got the scenery also.

So count me in as one of your spectators.

Unlucky Mic.  Wink

Ravang, I would suggest just having one or two races then the airshow. I would have the biplane class, then some displays, then the unlimited class, then the rest of the airshow.

It will be interesting to note any problems with mixing FSX and FS2004/FS 2002 Aircraft and scenery, particularly scenery Meshes!

The Multiplayer Tours appear completely different when using a mix of  the two programs, Aircraft and Scenery!

I have both FSX and FS 2004, but always use FS 2004 for Multiplayer activity to ensure that everyone sees the same thing!... Smiley...!

(Most of the Multiplayer participants use FS 2004 Aircraft and Scenery for compatibility)...Wink...!

I foresee a time, soon, when Multiplayer activity will be split between two groups; the original crews running FS 2002/FS2004, and the newcomers with FSX... Shocked...!

Ne'er the twain shall meet....Wink...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004.... Cool...!

I'll probably drop what ever race classes that don't have anyone in them
