as we all know, their has been a lot of speculation on Call of Duty 4 (CoD4) some say its awesome, some say its bad! I see both these to hold some sort of truth.

the good points

well, its an odd bucket of good points, the game is very well presented and executed in a brilliant way Smiley I love the way it switches between people (USMC and SAS) just adds an extra bit of bite to the game, you don't get set into a way of playing that then lasts until the end of the game. you are switching between sneaking around like MJ in mother care (SAS), and rampaging like a crazed gun man(USMC).
The visuals in the game are excellent, the heat haze looks nice and is not OTT like it is in many game, general graphics are very good but then again most games looks pretty these days so its not really a merit to a game.
Its also nice to see some rag dolls in a Call of Duty title and they are not excessive which is nice.

the bad points
3 major bad points to the game through my eyes, one is that its short, average completion time is around 6 - 8 hours, it is just too short IMHO i spent £30 on the title, and its over in less time than the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy, at least double the length and it would be much more acceptable.
the second point is how it relies on Multiplayer as an excuse for short single player game play, the Single Player should be the main aspect as it offers something original and creative, Multi player is almost the same as every other and it brings nothing new to the experience, everything that is done in CoD4 multi player has been done and done better. the ranks in CoD4 are not challenging to get at all, anyone can reach lvl55 and get all the goodies, in BF2 you had to do some serious fighting to get to the top rank and even then you got to choose what to unlock. CoD4 is set and easy.
Also the AI system also leaves a lot to be desired, its always up to you to push forward! In this aspect nothing has changed from the original title as its always up to you to run at the enemy first before your eejit team will follow (even when playing as the legendary SAS) and the enemy just run at you leaving any sense of a real gun fight sat on the door step looking sorry for itself.

generally i enjoyed CoD4 like everyone else but when it came to an end i was a bit disappointed, as i hadn't been playing for that long and it doesnt justify the £30 i spent on it, if it was selling as a MP title and it was £15 maybe worth it but its not. in length it lets the Call of Duty franchise down but in story it really picks it up... now if only the story could be a little longer with a few more really decisive moments then it would be brilliant, top stuff!

P.S. price will never die, he is in every PC CoD title to date and that moustache absorbs bullets.... im sure of it!

I don't remember anyone saying it was bad, just WAY short.  It was a brilliant game, and graphics were brilliant, but like you say, it should be single player with a multi-player add-on.  I don't really do MP, so I have already removed it...

The game isn't short if your playing on Veteran.
The good thing I liked about the Xbox 360 version was none of the achievements were anything to do with Online play.
I have 980/1000 Gamerscore for this on the 360, Mile High Club on Veteran is impossible.  Grin

Finished it but was not that impressed I guess because of playing crysis so much. It really was just a polished version of the other titles. I still cannot believe they still dont use ragdoll physics or really any other in the game maybe the odd bottle and tyre. This title should have been the mutts nuts but it's still miles behind most games.
The graphics when up close were not the best by a long shot quite shoddy in most areas.

(Yes, I know it is a terrible arguement.)

J ,I must say I am with you. And as in the latest yahtzee review, he made an excellent point, at least for the FPS market, which has fallen victim to "let's be like Halo" syndrome. For christ sake, boys, stop using that blasted rebounding health meter! Roll Eyes

Bioshock had a good health formula to it, a sort of limit to your health meter rebounds that you control, but unfortunately, that one was ruined by there being too much in terms of items and money, the lacking of a purchase limit on vending machines (the city has completely collapsed, why would they be fully stocked?) and the now infamous Vita-Chamber.

Good job, Irrational, for creating the first truly great game with absolutely no challenge factor! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
Easily blamable on the Halo-tards, most likely, due to the release of the game on the 360. Wink

(Yes, I am aware the game has been patched with an option to turn Vita-chambers off, but still, free ressurection for eternity? Come on...)

Bioshock was dreadul IMHO. I got bored after a good literal half an hour. I couldnt get myself to play it through again.

I think CoD4 was an alrightishly lengthed game. Compared to others I have, it doesnt drag on too much nor goes too quickly. Veteran is a bit of a challenge, and I am going to try and do mile high fairly soon. I think the secret is completing the rest of the game on veteran and then go to mile high... I seem to be getting a lot better the more I play it at a harder difficulty.
