I have seen him confined within enclosures but, never soaring free like he should be until today!!  I was with another spotter at the departure end of PHL when on my scanner we heard a pilot on approach call in he had just seen a Bald Eagle!!  I knew there was one in the area and have seen pictures taking by other spotters of him but, never seen myself.  So, the other spotter and I started driving to the other end when I saw him pull over real fast.  As I was coming up to where he pulled over I saw the Bald Eagle perched in the tree.  It was a thrill to see himm and to photograph him even though he was pretty far away and my shots aren't the greatest, I still got to see our National Symbol free in flight!!

Enjoy!! Smiley

I would trade a weeks worth of spotting pictures for that. Your are very lucky, as you say, most people only ever see then behind cages.
