It's been awhile since I've played CFS2 but I still consider it one of the finer WWII sims.  So now since I've installed it again, I can't remember if M/S ever patched or updated this sim.  I looked on their website but didn't find anything.

Anyone know if it's patched or just retail box is the latest version?

The patcher for this program is you. In other words is always up to you how much you want to upgrade your CFS2 install.

This Sim has the most upgrade available to it than any other Sim that I know off. Its all up to you.

You can also join this and other forums dedicated to this hobby and ask for help.

Once you understand how to upgrade it becomes almost a addiction.
