ok
I tried to fly with some of you guys a few times and ended up leaving because of the issues with my chat box.
When I press enter to open chat I get booted back to desktop??
I tried not to use full screen in fsx but not windowed either and the chat box stayed there but when I clicked on it to type it just paused the game instead:-?
any ideas??
Thanks.

I suspect that you were using FSX for the flight?

Most of the flyers were using FS 2004 with no problems.

Sierra Hotel uses FSX with no problems, I gather, so have a word with him regarding using FSX for our Multiplayer Flights...Wink...!

Paul...G-BPLF...Win XP...FS 2004...No Router.... Smiley...!

...have you experimented with a "Single Player" (just you) Flight on Sim V's Multiplayer...?

Does the game actually pause as there is a flashin "PAUSE" on the bottom lines or does the game just stand still? If it doesn't say pause then I think it might be a video card problem. Wink Mine does that ocasionally. FS9

Do you know what..

There are so many daily problems with FSX, one way and another, that I am convinced to stay with FS 2004 for the foreseeable future....

.....ESPECIALLY for On-Line Multiplayer activity...Smiley...!

I have never had any Multiplayer connection problems following the introduction of FS 2002/2004...Wink...!

Paul....G-BPLF.... Cool...!

P.S. FSX is installed on my hard drive, (and rarely used), but ONLY FS 2004 is used for trouble-free, reliable, Multiplayer flights, whether Solo, or Group flights... Kiss...!
I fly on-line seven days per week, with Sim V and other Sites, so my FS Program needs to be reliable.....hence FS 2004...!

Once you get used to the new servers and setting up flights, FSX multiplayer works fairly well, Paul.

Just like moving up from Cubs to Skyhawks to Barons to Bombardiers to Boeings, you just have to get used to the new controls and the like.

Darrin... Wink...!

I note your long lists of all sorts of problems in the FSX Forum on a daily basis, and surprisingly, although I and others fly FS 2004 Multiplayer every day of the Week with no problems, we never spot you, "Problem Free", on line...Wink...!

Whereas we FS 2004 Flyers experience no Multiplayer problems whatsoever during our regular flights with each other... Smiley...!

The same goes for almost all the regular FS 2004 Pilots on various other Sites.

The FS 2004 Scenery may not be quite as snazzy as FSX, but at least the Program is reliable, predictable, and easy to connect and remain connected, when used in the on-line Multiplayer application...which we prove...regularly...Wink...!

We constantly see the FSX Pilots desperately trying to connect with the server...with no luck... Cool...!
Only they know why...!

Paul...Daily Multiplayer Pilot for <10 years.... Smiley...!

My preference is for ease and reliability... Smiley...!

Pop in here at various time and spot how many FS 2002/FS2004/and FSX Pilots are on line...Wink...>>>>

Paul,

Many of my problems (not sure they actually make for a long list; it could be that I just write a lot about only a few things  Grin Wink ) with FSX have been either from incorrect operation on my part or an insufficient computer system.  With my upgraded computer, FSX runs well now.

As for operator error, tweaks, add-ons, settings, and all that jazz . . . well, before I was bewildered by FSX I was bewildered by FS9.  Roll Eyes Grin  So, I guess that means that both simulators just take some getting used to.

As for Game Spy and the FSX servers . . . OK, I will admit that I am less than delighted that MS went with GS for FSX.  There have been on occasion some connection issues.  But, those issues have usually been rather momentary when first logging in (might have to log-in twice, for example).  There are a lot of wonderful features, however, to the FSX multiplayer system that provide a quick, streamlined set-up experience.  And, I love, love, love the radio communication features that are a part of the whole package.  Plus, the ability to easily share aircraft or have people working as ATC is very excellent and really adds depth to the whole multiplayer experience.

And, in considering problems that people have with multiplayer connectivity, I have noticed an awful lot of questions and problems that people have posted here about getting connected to the SimV servers - whether using FS9 or FSX.  So, I guess even that even FS9 multiplayer on the SimV server is not really a trouble-free experience either.  Both multiplayer experiences have their pro's and con's, and both have a learning curve.  It is probably the learning curve of getting connected and using the multiplayer that really is at the heart of most issues.

And this is why I see the value in both having the regular FSX servers and independent servers such as provided by SimV.  Both have strengths and weaknesses to each experience.  One way will appeal to some, while the other way will appeal to others.  And that is why I responded the way I did to your comments.  If FS9 and the SimV server works best for you, great!  It is definitely the way to go for you.  However, some of us have found use and fun in the things FSX provides, and I wanted to let you know about those positive things, too.

Capice?

Happy flying anywhere and everywhere to us all,
Darrin
