I was thinking about getting Ground Environment X, and I was wondering is it hard on frame rates Undecided

or any other thoughts about the software

GEX is great! It brings FSX to new level of realism.

Frame rates are actually better due to the more FR frendly GEX autogen placement. You can actually increase your autogen settings on most sys

So does it use real photos for scenery or does it just repeat the same pictures for scenery like all towns kind of look the same and such. Undecided

It repeats, but the textures are great and it's definitely worth it. Smiley

If you want better layouts of cities and urban areas, check out UTX, it's also really great. Wink

Yes, GEX "repeats" as it basically replaces the default textures which also "repeats".

However GEX is more than just replacement textures.
The FSX "shaders" have now been reworked to take better advantage of them and this gives a much more realistic lighting effect of the FSX world which changes under various conditions.

There are also some enhancements for UTX if you have that.
