You can hardly call the arrival of a Belgian military plane like the C-130 Hercules a stealth approach, but I was VERY pleased I've picked out the right unway for once...

Sure there is... The military airport Melsbroek is a part of the National airport. They use the same runways, just separate hangars.

Why-oh-why do they still use the oldtimer herk (its one of the oldest in europe)

Just ask the RAF about fighting two 21st century conflicts using 40+ year old Hercs! Certainly helps speed their retirement! Of course the A400M will replace them...
...sometime in the next 50 years!
