Brilliant! I love the Coopers Hill Cheese Roll and Wake event. I've long stopped chasing the cheese, but I still manage to hurt myself every year by laughing so hard.
I'm told by the locals that its a pagan celebration dating back to the times before the roman conquest of Britain.
It's interesting to note that the only years it's not been held are on 3 occasions during the last 10 years, due to Health and Safety reasons. Even during the 1939-1945 war it continued, although due to food rationing the cheeses were replaced with wooden replicas, each containing a tiny amount of cheese at their core.
