It would seem that they are almost merged, not sure that its a good idea for this year, but I am glad that it's indycar who are running the show and not champcar. Will be interesting to see how some of the champ car guys adapt to the ovals again which is why waiting till 09 would be a better idea. Here's to an extended indycar schedule and hopefully no loss of ovals to make up for the new tracks.

SHHHH! DON'T FREAKIN' JYNX IT!
There could be loads that go wrong. I've been waiting so long for this. If I heard that it was happening in 2008, I would jump out of my seat (here in the campus library) and shout! I am on the verge of tears

Gentillozi tells media that the news leak will prevent talks from happening. He says that the media got in the way of the 2006 talks, how exactly did it get in the way? I think he needs to ignore the media.

the problem is, in each company there are small but interested partners who dont want this happening. They may only hold a few shares or just be a silent partner in general. So the IRL and champ car top dogs want to push this through quickly and quietly so those guys dont get involved and cause problems like they did a few years back. Now the news has leaked, everyone comes out of the woodwork with problems/ideas.

What soulless motherofaprick wouldn't want 1 series?
Maybe some sponsors? Cosworth? Oil companies?

Maybe pharmaceutical companies? They are pretty evil, with their constant pollution of the airwaves with their commercials telling people they are sick. I mean come on, why wouldn't the want 2 series, its in their best interest to sell more anti-depressants to us fans who are sick of this BS. ARE THEY TO BLAME?

the people who will lose money as you said.
Also teams and drivers sponsors, guys who might be fairly adept at driving in champ car but may not adjust well to Indycar.

Well I knew the teams would lose money, but the way you put it, I thought you were talking about some secret special interest group that meets in a dark cave in Indiana and constantly plots to destroy open wheel racing in the USA *cough, NASCAR, cough.

I'm still praying here in Kansas. I've orgainized a flock of hippies and we're sitting around the fire singin' songs.
"Come on people now,
smile on your brother,
everybody get together,
try to love one another right now"
I'm not sure the hippies know what I'm talking about, but they're 100% behind me!
They had better get this done before we become a cult and start making sacrifices to please the angry race gods

Champ Car is over. Rumors of bankruptcy, and Walker Racing moving to IRL.
More songs from the glorious 1960's:
"When the music's over,
Turn out the lights,
Turn out the lights."
The overall attitude in the Speedtv forums is negative about the whole things. Anti-social punks

There is a beer in the back of my fridge that reads: "do not open untill Indy/CART merger."
I've got a feeling, I'll be tasting sweet, sweet unification tomarrow night-
