I'd say one OR the other. Not a good idea to use both at once.

Specs: Asus Crosshair nForce 590 SLI,

4GB G.Skill PI Series DDR2-800,

I use AVG plus some freeware spywarekillers and a free firewall. Beats Norton all the time. Got rid of that crap many years ago.

I have Norton 360 and don't have any performance issues - hitting 150 - 200FPS in the air on one mission with a Q6600 and 2GB RAM with the Nidia 8600GTS 512MB.

I don't like the idea of free software being the sole guard of my computer with so much valuable stuff on it. Don't get me wrong AVG is fantastic and I have it on a win 2k machine, but that's just me.

Using freeware to protect your PC isn't always that bad an idea, as long as you realize that no ONE program is going to offer COMPLETE protection.

Of course, and I do have freeware on here too. AVG Antispyware, Adaware, Spybot and Super Antispyware. But I PERSONALLY would not rely on freeware alone is what I meant  Smiley

There isnt anything wrong with freeware.

I mean, it is like saying charity work isnt as good as hiring people.

Besides, AVG has a payware big-brother. It is a good incentive to go and get the free version and then upgrade.

AVG/AVAST  (I reccomend choosing and using only 1 though. Programs like these will like to clash)
Spybot Search and Destroy
'Common Sense'

The 3/4 things you need to have some good and free protection from nasties.

Trend Micro Security Suite 2008. Though if you using Vista do NOT upgrade to SP1 before installing new software.
