I'm having problems with boolean operations in FSDS 3.5.
Simple ops work ok if part and tool are kept really simple
...but the moment I try it with more complex parts or tools (particularly if sections have been moved or scaled) i get a message: "error found on boolean part"...
The problem seems to occur if the end sections of the part are scaled down, ie fuselages.
...What should I do?
...Surely FSDS should cope with more complex boolean ops than that?

Hi, I find 3.5 much less tolerant in boolean operations than version 3, so I keep 3 installed and often carry out my boolean stuff in that before reloading into 3.51.
Also boolean is most unhappy if the tool crosses the main part edges.
Hope that helps,
Brian Franklin

You must see the shape of the "Tool" part, if it doesn't have the right shape you could have errors, try to make the cut changing the shape it and try again.

Thanks guys...
Unfortunately I don't have v3 - went staight into v3.5.
It's true that modifying the shape makes a difference... esp when you scale down the end sections of the either part. But this means its of virtually no use whatever for design...!
Have to say I'm a little disappointed! Even the Help tutorial exercises don't work!
Come on Abacus!

Are you compiling for FS9 or FSX?. have you also tried scaling the entire project up, doing the boolean and scaling down again?
