Once again I'll have to apologize for my ignorance... Embarrassed

Upon reading a lot of posts, especially by NickN, I was wondering if it was even worth trying to OC, but I have a middle of the line card, so it probably won't help much. This forum has a wealth of info, and has helped me in the past....I'll try to "keep up"!

You guys are the experts, so therefore I default to you for advice. Just in reading all of the advice is sometimes overwhelming...so I figured I'd just ask.... Roll Eyes   Maybe a simple answer is what I was looking for...it appears that there isn't one.

I'll keep reading the posts, and at some point when I feel I won't fry my system I'll do some of the suggestions that are out there...maybe.

Woof!

It's worth overclocking, I noticed framerate to be smoother. Might as well overclock, if it shortens it's life by 25% I'm not bothered.

Overcloked my 2.2ghz 4400x2 to 2.7ghz, ATI X1900XT is flashed to X1900XTX BIOS, and overclocked from 625 core 688. Memory from  725  to 792mhz.

In Colin Mcrae it was juddery at 1680x1050 medium detail, and not at ultra it's smoother framerate.

I never noticed the difference as that much - but I think try it - then get a better a card.

Now that I have a "better" card, 8500GT-512mb...I know it's not the best, I'll wait for a whole system upgrade for a better card... Wink

P4 @ 3.4ghz....single core
4 gb ram....
Win XP

I've read just about every post about overclocking, tuning, yadayadayada.... Undecided

Done NickN's stuff in Ntune...windows clean UP...etc

(Got Ntune, nHancer, Control panel....)

GPU core is at 459.000MHz
GPU Mem at 400.000MHz

Running UTX, GEX....

Also have a headache Roll Eyes

Whats a good approach for oc the GPU...how much at a time should I try?
