OK, seeing as I am always making strange comments or coming up with odd questions, I figured, "Why stop now?"  (That was a rhetorical question, and not my actual question for this thread!  Wink )

I was thinking about starting a "news and information" thread for Northwest Airlines.  Maybe I could call it "N.A.N.I"; nani means 'what' in Japanese, so it could be a clever acronym (Northwest Airlines News and Information)?  OK, maybe that was too bizarrely obscure, and I should just call it, "Northwest Airlines News and Information".  Simple and clear is good?

Whatever the heck it is called, I have an interest in Northwest Airlines.  I have flown NWA more than any other carrier, and they are the only carrier that services the airport of my 'home' town (Minot, N.D.; not where I happen to live right now in Japan, though I believe NWA is still the number one U.S. carrier to Asia, including Japan).

Not only would I make efforts to write little bits of news about NWA (for those interested), but everyone could contribute, and even write of their own experiences.  Maybe someone had a memorable flight (like when they let me into the cockpit of a 747-400 while we were waiting at the gates), or maybe someone works/worked for NWA and has really cool insider information.  Whatever comes to mind and is interesting to share is what I am looking for.

OK, I know that sounds sort of random, but we all have our interests, yes?  My concerns would be:

1) Would this just be a cluttering nuisance to Real Aviation or SimV in general?

2) Is it OK to start a thread you plan on adding to on a regular basis (imagine if, once a week or so, something new got posted and then, zoom, the thread goes to the top of the sub-forum again)?

3) If there was an NWA thread, would there be other people with interests in other airlines (American Airlines, KLM, Delta, Alitalia, whomever) that would want to do the same for those airlines, and if so would this create a mess in the Real Aviation sub-forum?

OK, I rambled again.  But, I am sure one of the wise and learned (  Grin ) admins/mods will be able to decipher what I am talking about and point me in the right direction.

I guess the general idea is that I would like to start a thread devoted to information about NWA, but only if the general consensus is that it would be a worthwhile contribution to SimV.

Tah for now,
~Darrin

Darrin you need to lay off the sushi Wink
There is no harm in starting the thread, it'll live or die on its own merits but don't expect it to be stickied as it is a little tooooooo specialist Wink

Oh, no expectation of stickiness!  Only in my rice, maybe?  Grin

Just, if I started a thread and updated or posted to it once a week or so with new information or trivia, I didn't want someone to think I was trying spam post or unfairly bump my own thread.  That is mainly what I was worried about.

As for living and dying . . . hm.  I suppose if after a month or two if I don't have any interest in said thread, I will keep my ramblings about NWA to myself.  No, wait!  I can always talk to my baby daughter and my cat!  Grin

Anyway, like I said, before doing something "regular", I just like to check.  <scratches head>  There was something . . . an amusing, anecdotal story about doing things and checking . . . engines . . . autopilot . . . something.

Anyway, I will trade you lots of sushi for a decent cheeseburger.  Dang, do I miss home!  Cry Grin

Thinking of things to write about NWA,

Go for it Darrin, as Ozzy said, it can't do any harm. I'd like to read it, I may not contribute to it but it would interest me.
