I just went through and reinstalled and set up nhancer and my video drivers using this: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1163028653/165#172 .
Now, whenever I try to start the internet (Firefox or IE), it says it cannot find the server, but Windows says there is an active, working connection.  Does anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks.

Here's an odd one.  I can connect to the internet if I go Network->Network and Sharing Center->Set up a Connection or Network->Connect to the Internet, and it tells me I'm already connected to the internet, so it asks me if I want to browse, and I choose "yes", and it connects me to the internet, but I still can't connect using my Firefox or IE shortcuts.

Also, if I try to connect to a Call of Duty 4 multiplayer game it says it goes through all the available servers like it normally does, but it doesn't display those.  The same thing happens with Outlook, I can choose to send and recieve my mail, and the window pops up, but closes immediately, no error message or anything. Tongue

I'm lost and confused.

Looks like something got scrambled somewhere. Have you tried setting up your network connection again manually and then making a new desktop shortcut?

I can still connect if I go through the process of trying to set up a new connection because it tells me I'm already connected, then it opens IE and I can browse the internet like normal, but if I try to connect using any other method (through another application that connects, or using a browser I have installed, including IE), it says the server cannot be found.

I would think it has something to do with Vista not allowing programs to connect for some reason, but I was able to connect like normal and everything before yesterday, but I'm not familiar enough with setting up networks and all that to try and fix this myself.

Thanks again for any help.

Okay go to Network Connections and then right click and look at Properties. Now what are your Options and Networking settings?

No, actually not!  I can connect by going Network->Network and Sharing Center->Set up a Connection or Network->Connect to the Internet, and it tells me I'm already connected to the internet, so it asks me if I want to browse, and I choose "yes", and it connects me to the internet like normal.  But if I try to connect using any other method, it won't work, which is really a pain because there's a bunch of CAD programs and things I use for school that need to be able to connect for licensing issues, but I can't use them now.  Not to mention, it's a real burden to not have COD4 as a stress reliever. YEHAAW, I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!! Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

Apparently I had to reset some "winsock" thing or something.  I'm not completely sure what I did, but it worked, and I'm extremely happy.  Thanks for the help so far. Smiley
