I showed Alexander Star Wars for the first time the other night and to say he was impressed is like saying Charles Manson is a little uptight... Since then, he will only be called Darth Vader and Olivia is now Princess Leia. The next morning when he woke up, the first words out of his mouth were 'I'm Darth Vader"
I really envied him, seeing it for the first time. Star Wars was the first movie I ever saw by myself. I was all of 13 years old...

Yup, a REALLY good film
Isn't it great seeing it again from their perspective thought Kevin?

Ah, the wild imagination of children. Didn't we all play our favorite series or movie-hero? What a great time in life.
Just be afraid if little Alexander starts shouting about... "Kevin, I am your father!"

Whilst finding that hard to believe, if true then you really have missed out my friend.
The effects may look a bit dated now but at the time it was way ahead of it's time. To use an analogy, imagine having FS98 then moving straight to FSX... it really was that much of a jump.

We recently invested in a 42" plasma, wall mounted, with the sound routed through my hi-fi, and the first film my 9-year-old son and I watched was Star Wars Ep IV. Truly a ground-shaking experience! The Star Destroyer didn't quite thunder overhead like it used to in the cinema, but it was goldurned close.
Pass the chocolate raisins, someone.

I'm dead serious here...Never been the movie type of guy...I watch movies every now and then...For Star Wars, I find that there's too many parts to it and I'm not gonna watch them all...Maybe sometime in the near future

My son's just got into Star Wars too (he's nearly 7).
I really wanted him to feel the same awe and excitement I felt when I first saw the originals back in the late 70s. And it looks like it's working
He saw Ep IV twice but wasn't that impressed before. This time he's a bit older and we started with Ep I.
The transformation of that little boy into a Jedi Knight and then Darth Vader really captivated him. Ep IV is by far IMHO the weakest film in the series now looking at the series as a whole - suddenly neither Kenobi or Ben can jump around any more for a start
- and in its simple one-thread story line and dated look as a stand-alone piece, though it of course has nostalgic value, and the part when all the fighters are starting up their engines and heading out to take on the Death Star still gets my pulse racing after 20 viewings... but he got through it last night with all its static talky bits etc.
Ep V next week - my second favourite after Ep III. He's already filled with trepidation that the Empire is going to be Striking Back - it's going to be bad like the third one isn't it daddy... yes son, it is......

I'd have said Phantom Menace was the weak one. Dire script, wooden acting (due largely to dire script), and Jar Jar Binks the most annoying alien in the universe. That said Darth Mauls light sabre is pretty cool

Yeah, the Gungans are pretty annoying but there's plenty of locational variety, spectacular underwater monsters, I love the pod race, Darth Maul is cool, the first appearance of the friendly droid duo and plot stirrings that become significant later etc. Based on the scripts and acting quality all 6 are the weakest films

Yes...! Finally someone else besides me who hasn't either...!
I did watch 20 or so minutes of 'Return of The Jedi' on the tv when I was young, but at the time I didn't know what I was watching, so I flipped to the next thing on tv....
