Judge Ashar’s in the saddle at last after – and it seems so long ago – this fine winner:

...

Judge Ashar’s Topic:

“AIRCRAFT AT WORK”

Beaver Flying Around in Washington State...

...

My theme for this contest is Aircraft at Work...You must choose an aircraft that is...at work! For example, say you have a DeHavilland DH-2 Beaver with a wilderness tour scheme. Then you must depict the aircraft doing its job, which in this case, is flying over the wilderness of some remote region.

Whichever shot best depicts the aircraft in its element will be chosen as the winner. For this contest, I will let anyone use any sort of aircraft they want. You can have a balloon for all I care, but it must represent its "job". You may use cigar tubes, but I know you folks are WAY more creative than that. Think about it!

UN C-130 about to embark for an air drop into war riddled Darfur
www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/csunash2.jpg

A couple of Eurofighters are scrambled to intercept an unknown aircraft...
www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/afsthash2.jpg

These are only examples...As you can see, the role can vary from aircraft to aircraft. Payware is allowed, but editing is NOT allowed. That means no composites.

Good luck,
Ashar

THIS WEEK'S RULES  aka blah blah blah

1. To reiterate, the aircraft must be clearly doing it’s job.

2. Payware ok, editing not okay.

3. You nominate one shot only, as a thumbnail of about 5 kb. IT CAN BE AN OLD SHOT if you don’t have time to create something especially for the comp, though original entries are encouraged….  Post it in this thread, below.
DEADLINE for submission of shots is 8 PM GMT on SATURDAY FIFTH JANUARY 2008.

The judge will choose which shot is best and tell Krigl on Saturday or Sunday…
DEADLINE FOR JUDGE TO INFORM KRIGL: 8 PM GMT SUNDAY
The winner will be announced Sunday evening.

THE WINNER IS THE NEXT JUDGE!

And, your winning shot goes into the Personal Portfolios!

4. The winner should decide on the next competition, and, by MONDAY NIGHT 8:00 GMT, send KRIGL one pic plus a short text to describe the competition and what they are looking for. Also send another couple of your best shots.

We will start the new competition on Monday night, so people have 5 evenings to produce their entries.

5. This is for fun, so just post whatever seems to you to fit the rules. In the spirit of StudioV, we're all aviation and aviation screenie fans, and friends, and so just about everything goes. Rules are secondary, and no questions needed.

It might be an idea to check out our Judge's work, see what he likes....

TWO 'IMPORTANT' NOTES

A. The main point is that you get to be the judge – but the winning shot will also extend your portfolio….

B. If people don’t meet the dead-lines, don’t be surprised if Krigl makes the choices or even the competition for you. Studio V must ‘run on time’….  Sorry to be evil about this but it’s for the greater good, as it were.

So planes etc buzzing round like so many busy bees are what we want to see this time…let’s get to work ourselves and put on a good show for the Asharlander!

Here's a C-46 hard at work, 'flying the hump', bringing supplies from India to China across the Himalaya. I don't know how they did it for real, I kept flying into mountains that were higher than my ceiling...better maps probably.

I'm not......it's just the scenery that makes it good....anyone else with that scenery and the patience to record all 4 aircraft could make that same shot easily....it's not really really special (fasttrack material....)
It is however a phenomenal shot for the theme....nice one  Cool

my humble entry

Try 24 aircraft m8 + ai put in for the shot the planes don't come with the scenery.  It takes a lot of patience indeed!

Thanks for the compliments guys. Smiley

I agree that it probably took a lot of time to set up, but it just isn't special enough to warrant a fast track into the gallery....I'm not saying it's bad....It's an excellent shot. Smiley

Of course and I do to that's why I put my initial comment when I posted the shot!  I haven't said anything else indicating that I'm not in agreement regards the overall pic.  And i even said thanks guys for the compliments.

I am simply pointing out that it's slightly more effort than just 4 planes and solely relying on the great Koltsovo freeware scenery.   Wink  It's that point that I feel undersells my efforts!

Wonderful shots there for Judge Ashar - very nice work all!

I agree with Mic and Clip on Mustang's shot...but it's just part of several very nice sets Mustang did in Edited. Most of his work is fast track worthy anyway  Grin

How about this one (sorry to hijack, Ashar) - this one combines both Mustang's hard work and a great composition.... fast track in recognition??

I know....in my opinion too many shots do get fast tracked.....if they're good enough for the gallery they should go into the gallery gates vote to be decided, not arbitrarily thrown in as such.
