Been months since I last flew, so I was very happy the weather didn't mess with my scheduled lesson today at 12N.

Aeroflex-Andover is very picturesque and somewhat unusual. Rwy 21 was in use when I arrived; here I am waiting to cross over to where the hangars are, as a J3 arrives (shot thru my car's windshield).
FS9 buffs wilkl note that the "killer tree" is not there, although there are trees and hills aplenty nearby.

...

Passed an open hangar on my way to the office... here is the school's Stearman, patiently waiting for me to take her up with an instructor this summer.  Grin

...

Not sure who owns this fine Stinson L108 Voyager, aka the "Flying Station Wagon", but she looks great in royal blue.

...

Another member of the Andover Flight Academy fleet: a Cub Crafters Top Cub, sort of a modernized Super Cub. Very soon I am most likely going to saddle up in this machine for the school's advanced "bush" course.

...

But I'm not here to fly any of those...I am here to sample the low end of the school's price range, but certainly not without honor.
Today's mount is a major classic and one of my faves: a 1952 Piper J3 Cub .

Luckily I arrive while Bill is still up with another student. The vary faint wind has shifted, so here they come, aiming for the grass alongside 03.

     ...

Almost... almost...

...

She's down, and very smoothly. Beautful, and right between the cones and the runway lights. Even with no wind, that's pretty slick.
I assume it was Bill flying, but I find out later it was his student, a young lady with some glider time who is not really satisfied with that landing.

Welcome to the Andover College of Taildragger Knowledge... Grin

Wicked! The approach seems a bit daunting for both pilots and drivers!  Shocked

I still can't get over the cub on Tundra wheels... it just doesn't seem right, those plump wheels...

Great stuff, Sean. I've seen shots on Anet of Aeroflex and I'm hoping I can get down there sometime. It does look beautiful.

The water at both ends is actually a blessing- no obstructions. Wink

As for the Cub with tundra tires, you'd get used to it after a day in Alaska or Canada. Grin

Man, that looks fun.  You get to have all the flying fun, don't you?  A Champ in Californian mountains, Taildragger fun in Andover, and now you want bush lessons?  Care to send some of that interesting flying my way?  These cornfields are getting a bit boring...Grin Wink
