I downloaded GMAX from Turbosquids website but when I try to install it, it takes me to the install screen for fraps and installs fraps. What is the problem with it?

This is one issue you should ask in the turbosquid gmax installation support  forum.

If you have FS2004, you can pull it right from Disk 1, in the extras folder.

Not really sure what the problem was, but at least you know you it's a good install. Still have to register it through T-Squid though.
