My father flew one during the late 50's and early 60's and I have been losing my mind trying to find one for him to fly in my sim but have had no luck. I found one for FS9 some time back but I lost the plane and don't use FS9 anymore.

Does anyone know where I can find one for FSX that has the top and bottom "radomes"?

Wow ... NOBODY knows of one? I guess that doesn't surprise me. I also looked for a 3-view for this aircraft and was going to try to build it myself but couldn't even find a 3-view that had both radomes on it.

Several years back I wanted the same a/c as I flew in late 50's. After a lot of searching found one, very happy with it. Did a search this morning and I think it is the same A/C.  Check .. fsdownload.com, EC-121 full package. If this is the same A/C I have it works in FSX maybe with some minor adjustments to a/c config. The gauges are XML so they will work in FSX. Hope this helps

Thanks Doug. I went to FSdownload and searched for it but I couldn't find it ... those guys aren't as organized as SimV.

Let me ask you this ... is it the Mike Stone model that you are talking about? If it is, I already have that one for FS9. I would be interested in knowing what the aircraft.cfg modification is for it to work in FSX though.

Try a Google search "EC 121 for FSX". FSD/L should be near the top of the page. The EC 121 is the fourth from the top. I think it is a Mike Stone creation with references to others for panel etc. I checked my 121 in fs9 and realized it is a slightly different panel compared to the 121 I have in fsx. I now remember that I used the panel from the fantastic FSDZIGNS L-049A Constellation. It is very similar and all XML gauges, engineer panel too.
With respect to config changes, it has been over a year and I didn't write anything down. As I recall the alteration involved smoke, dust effects that were excessive while flying, I removed most of them. One final point, in fsx the wheels are all black and lack detail. I wanted this a/c in fsx so badly I didn't care. I do very little flying wheels down anyway.  Doug

This is a link to alphasims ec121 for fs9.  It works fine in fsx.

http://www.alphasim3.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=104

There are several connies available that work in fsx.  None that I have found are fsx models but ports of fs9 models.  Most don't have a vc, those that do are not very detailed.  I also have the scfa connie and it is really nice with lots of addon textures available.  From some of the talk on different forums they are looking into getting a detailed vc for it.  I flew the ec121k ,electronic tech , in mid 60's for AEWBARRONPAC also went to VQ-1 with the connies.  Loved flying on the old bird, especially the Pacific Barrier and the test flights to New Zealand.  Good Luck

Thanks, that looks like a very nice aircraft but it is payware. While I don't really mind buying payware aircraft from time to time (if I feel they are worth the generally HIGH prices) I would be wary of this one as it specifically says it is for FS2000-FS2004. I know you say it works fine with FSX but with the constant changes in FSX, I would wonder "how long" it would continue to work.

I don't know what you consider high price but at $23 NZ it is quite reasonable.  I agree that when you get to fifty bucks, it better be better than...... well you can see what I mean

I paid $29 U.S. for "FSX Acceleration" and got SEVERAL aircraft, extra missions and system tweaks for my buck. I can't see paying almost just as much for one single aircraft that I may not even be able to use much longer the way MS keeps updating the sim. Know what I mean? There are LOTS of add-on packages out there that are in the $20 - $30 range that offers many very cool aircraft in the package and not just one that is ACTUALLY meant for FS9. I completely understand these designers wanting to make a buck off of their hard work but lets face it ... $20+ for a single aircraft is (in my book) too unrealistic when so many packages out there for the same price offer much more value for your money. ALSO, if these designers realized that and lowered their prices, they would sell more aircraft and actually make more money than they do now because their sales would go up. I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for one aircraft, but NOT $20+.
