Wingtip vortices! Cool!  Smiley

I spot a Brussels Airlines bird behind that 757! I see plenty of those at Brussels.

You really get a nice mix of aircraft-types there, don't you?

I still wonder how you are able to get such nice unobstructed views. Were you standing on a spottingplatform? No fence in sight.

Quite. I'd never really noticed that on an airliner before - in fact I can't really remember seeing it (noticably) on any full size aeroplanes.

One suspects that spray is probably the correct term, in the aeronautical use of the word condesation. Wink

Great sets of shots

Manchester has a pair of spotting platforms - on top of earth mounds which must be 3 or so metres high. Smiley

Here they are

Along the second runway at Manchester there is a hill/mound which runs parallel  Wink

More great shots!!

I wish we had a few spotting platforms at PHL instead of squeezing the lense through the fence!!

Dont tend to go to the AVP as most of the shots are taxying, especially when the second runway is in operation....As stuart said, there is a raised footpath which goes around the whole runway, including a higher mound at the holding point and a convenient tunnel for the river Bollin which provides an easy way to access both sides....it's often VERY muddy during the winter though Wink

Kris - I've got a couple of nice Brussels airline BAe146, might post them later Smiley

EDIT

here's a pic of the place in slightly better weather...notice the fence and the bank

Lol! Grin Oh yes - my mistake! Having said that, compared to 777 engines those are so small and insignificant... Grin
