Call me crazy (my friends at the airport did), but I got up at 0630 and drove out to my home airport and took some shots.

We ordered PF Changs last night and I took this (no tripod!)

A Piper Chyanne.

I decided to increase the exposure and took this one of the Chyanne

This is a B-58p named "The Allison Isabelle". The tan paint reflects the sunlight nicely.

I froze me nuts off waiting for this one. The pilots looked at me strangely.

Of course its 20F out, and I didn't realize it untill someone asked me if I was cold Grin

Feel free to give me tips on how to improve the shots.

I love the dawn shots and the Cheyenne, well, that's just fantastic combined with the great colours of the morning sky!

One minor tip... try to level your shots, so we don't get a crack in the neck... Grin

That's easily fixed. You can rotate the images in most graphics editing software. A little careful editing makes all the difference.

Click Image > Custom/Fine Rotation & type the angle in the box. This can be anything from 0.1 to 359.9. It's obviously best to adjust this before cropping/resizing.

Great set of shots! Really like the second Cheyenne photo. If you can spare another 80 bucks or so, you can pick up Photoshop Elements. Or spend even more and get the full fledged version. There's also a ton of others out there as well that I'm sure some of these guys around here can vouch for. Like mentioned before, a little fine tuning can go a long way. Keep at it!

Great perspective on the Baron by the way! Cool

I really like #2 and #4. While the first ones are a little tilted you did great on the #4. Here is a little tip.

Keep the far left, center, and far right diamonds in your viewfinder even with the horizon, runway, aircraft, or subject in the horizontal plane and you will never have a "crooked" shot. You an do the same vertically too. Just practice and soon it will become second nature.

And once you get comfortable with the automatic settings on your camera you can start to play with all the settings by programming your own and shooting in "P" mode.

I have the Canon digital Rebel and the Canon rebel xti. After getting the xti I am still learning how much more versatile it is.

Have you gone to the Canon digital training website yet?

None of these shots were taken in Auto mode. I think I've taken like 3 in auto, and I wasn't satisfied with the results. Don't know the deal with it, my subjects were not in focus.
