Fedex has just delivered me  a brand new Geforce 8800 GTS 512mb - and it seems crazy to have to use a third-party program like Nhancer to make it function properly. I admit to being a technodummy, but is that really the case? Hard to believe that  every single one of the countless 8800 owners is dependent on Nhancer. If I don't use it, what then: how bad is bad? I wonder if it would be more sensible to hold off installing the card until Nvidia sort out the driver problem...but is there any prospect of that happening?

What i did was just rename my main FS9 Executable to 123.exe then the drivers didnt recognise it and i set up a profile for it in nHancer, and i have found that nHancer is better than the default nVidia program aswell...

FSX runs fine... the problem
is you or your system

When I post lists, its for a reason.

doing something like that is unorthodox, the registry does not know where FSX is now and you may be opening up an entire can of worms

All you had to do was have Nhancer duplicate the profile as my list specifies and then make sure all settings were changes for the profile AND global

And to the original OP, sorry Nvidia wants to control you, your card and your game. Its up to you if you wish to use NH or not. Without it, I can say without a doubt FSX will not run or look as good

When you gutys start doing things that are not listed and are specified, you take your sim performance and looks into your own hands. I do not posts those lists with the idea people will change or try t make the process better. If there was a better way , I would have posted it. What you now have is a conflict taking place between the registry and everything else.

Apologies, I sometimes read these forums fast because I have so little time and am browsing several forums on a wide screen at the same time. FS9 did not register when read I posted because I have my head in FSX right now.

FS9 is different than FSX in so much as it does not have major dependencies in the TCPIP stack

Yes, that will work with FS9 but i still find it strange you had to take that step.
