Ok, so I left work early and rushed to Best Buy to get a bag, a cf card, and a uv filter. Got home, and I started to play around with it.
Here it is, first shot, Little boots at home
I was just so freakin' hungry, I needed food, so after the first shot was taken, I took this while the software loaded
Odie, the dog. Hes terrified of any new object in the house.
As the light lowered, I increased the ISO to 800 (after playing with the exposure for about 10 shots

Isn't it great to explore your camera for the first time? And somehow our pets are always the victim.
Nice first tries!

As Kris said (and having just been in the same position), the first experimental shots are the fun ones..................However, your cat looks to be at little more at ease than the look your dog is giving you. A sort of, if you do that again I will insert you nice new camera where that sun does not shine type of look;D
