Hey guys, my son has been using FSX for a while and I had been using his some.  So, he got me my own for Christmas.  Now we both have it on each of our computers and have actually done a LAN flight together....pretty neat.  We are really enjoying FSX.

My question is...is there a good Hercules C-130 sim out there anywhere for FSX?  I've seen one or two for 2004, but am not sure if it would work properly so have not tried it.  I have succesfully added a couple of aircraft that work well.  I really dig the Honda Jet.

That's all for now, I appreciate your feedback.

No no, seriously mate, thats it. Two C-130s that you can consider. There is only ONE An-225 out there, one MiG-29 I believe, one F-15 Eagle, one F-4 Phantom, one B-52. These are all popular aircraft, yet they are hardly modeled.  Wink

The Simshed C-130 worked great for me, but you need to follow the instructions carefully!  Also, I would suggest getting the USAF/National Guard repaints (Sorry, I do not know where I found them), as they look great and fit in with your dogfighting schemes. (This comes directly from a National Guard C-130 pilot-"A C-130 can outmaneuver an F-15 low and slow" <--- They tried it in Iraq)

I thought I follwed the directions carefully...but I got no gauges showing up....only one!!!   I actually only put the one folder of the c130 plane into my Aircraft folder (FSX) and not any of the other folders (gauges, ??, ?? else, etc)that were exteranl of that folder.  I suppose I should put the gauges into "Gauges" folder or do they go in the aircraft (c130 folder)??  Not sure which is correct.  I was a little confused by the folders that were in the (C130) folder(after unzip) looked like a complete set as compared to other aircraft in the "Aircraft" folder in my FSX.  It looks like the zip contains both scenarios for FS9, and FSX.....if I understand how they differ....which I'm not totally sure I do!!!   Does that make any sense???  I'd appreciate some guidance here.....I'm still learning!! Cool  So to recap....do gauges go into the "gauges" folder only....or the aircraft specific (C130) folder??  Gauges I bet!  I'll get there.

OK. After you place the aircraft in the Simobjects folder, you need to copy the contents of the Effects Folder and paste them into the FSX  Effects Folder. THEN, you need to copy the contents of The Gauges Folder and paste them into the FSX Gauges Folder.

This is pretty standard practice for installing MOST add-on aircraft.  Wink

Thanks,  I did not know that you copied the "contents" of the folder and not the folder.  I did that but gauges are no longer supported by FSX so the message said.  Oh well.....on to another one I guess.

I appreciate the info though.  that is good to know.  Like i said I;m learning and will get it.  Maybe I should just be happy flying the dozens of aircraft that come with the sim.!!?? Smiley

Installing aircraft isn't as hard as it appears ... just takes some reading and practice to get it down. Heck, I was installing aircraft for months before I learned how to edit .cfg files. LOL, I kicked myself when I realized how simple it really is.

Yep...I have actually done several successfully....Iguess those were all FSX ready....this one was apparently not, and it threw me.  No more of those for me.....there's too many that are FSX.

Cheers
