I installed CFS3 on my new computer and the graphics have gone nuts. The card is just a 8500 and I installed the latest drivers before I even installed the sim. I'm not talking about skaky trees, I mean the whole sky and I nearly have a fit when looking at the ground. It's just impossible.

What could it be?

XP, 2G ram, 8500gt, 200G hard drive, 2.0 dual processor and 450W PSU. FS9 flies a treat with no probs.  Roll Eyes

Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Intel Core 2 Duo E2180 2GHz
GA-P35-DS3L Intel P35
Kingston HyperX 4GB (2x2) DDR2 6400C4 800Mhz
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
2 x 22" monitors
200GB Sata
Be Quiet! Straight Power 650W

Flying FSX with Saitek's pro flight range:
Radio
Switch panel
Auto-pilot
Yoke and throttle quad

It does not like the dual processor so you have to reset.  AMD has a utility for its chips & Intel also has a setting you can use.

BTW its not resolution since I play mine on a 22 inch widescreen in 1680X1050X32 with no problem.

Any of the CFS3 pictures you see under my name are unretouched screen captures.

Intel E2180 2.0.Ghz
I tried flying again last night on the lowest resolution possible and it made not difference at all.

Well the dual core processor is indeed to blame and here is the remedy for future reference. By pressing control alt delete immediately after starting the sim brings up the familiar window.
Right click on cfs.exe and then set affinity. Uncheck one of the processor cores and bobs your uncle. It's not an ideal measure, but it only affects CFS3 and is only a minor inconvenience to do before every game. CFS3 seems to like only 1 core. Roll Eyes

I now have a 22" monitor. Can you please tell me how you get CFS3 to run in widescreen 1680x1050?

Pressing ctrl+alt+del does indeed bring up the familiar window. But right-clicking on CFS3 does not show a window with the word "affinity" in it.
So could you explain in slightly more detail please?

Incidentally, I'm running an AMD Dual core, so is that why I don't get shaky pictures.
