Well, reviving the SimV clan idea, I think that a lot more interest would show now that we have our own gaming section.

Perhaps we should vote on the name in here, and possibly get a sticky up the top to list our details, such as how to join, your ingame username for each game you play on line etc. If enough interest shows, we might be able to host our own dedicated servers for online play depending on what games the majority play (and, if a game that you play isn't in the majority, two people could schedule a match on their own hosted server). Thoughts?

Mobius, agreed, just don't laugh at me either (really, not too good at shooters, good at flying an EVAC chopper). Wink

Multiple games would be accepted if we get this thing up in the air, again, based on what the majority plays.

For example -

Armed Assault
BF2/142
CoD1/2/4
Counter Strike/Source
007 Nightfire (bring it on Mees! We should try setting up our own server one day)
Medal of Honour: Airborne
World In Conflict

I guess thats what the majority would play that could fit into our SAS Regiment. It would just be fun to play in an organised manner. Low population servers where people are willing to listen to various strategies and use teamwork instead of Rambo. Wink

... all CoD games are notorious for hackers on MP, even CoD4 mainly because PB can be bypassed! such waste of time and a lame excuse for an anti cheat! and it has the worst ranking system ever, no skill what so ever required just be a camping noob with an MG and shoot through every wall! Kermit, if we do host these servers, then they would be private. I am sure that no one on SimV would cheat, honestly. So, I will get a poll up for the games that we would like to play soon. If anything is missing from it, and the majority also think that it is missing, let me know. If over, say 3/4/5 people want it in, it will go in. Wink

Multiple choice, vote for the games that you play. We will narrow it down to the 3 or 5 most played games. If you feel that a game is missing from the list, then just tell me. If more people start to think it is missing from the list, I will add it to the poll. It will end in say, seven days (no option to set the time in which it ends...).

OK, it looks like Call of Duty 4, MoH:A, CS and BF2 are in the lead.

However, I should make note to those who want BF2, that if we are to have that in the list of games played, it would have to stay unranked (with unlocks of course), because I don't think anyone here is obsessed with rank and awards, we are doing this for fun in the end, so it wouldn't matter that much.

I also should say, that at this present moment, my computer isn't functioning well, so the only shooters I have installed are CoD 4 and 007 Nightfire, so someone else may have to setup a dedicated server for the other games listed. Wink

I voted COD4 and MOH:air...

I am using X360 so i would happily set up a server for COD 4 or MOH:A or both but they won't be dedicated only private....

Thats OK Layne, I can probably set up the CoD4 server if CoD4 is one game to go through. The computer offers a lot more flexibility than the 360, think about it, I might even mod the server to be low gravity if we set up a server. Wink

hmm big problem i see here.

the organiser (AN225) is in the land down under, im in the UK, so is Mic, many others are in the US. pings will be a huge issue, this may not be possible.

Being a good sniper on CoD4 takes alot of skill/work. In BF2 however it is stupidly easy.

If there was a BF2 server would it be real BF2 and not inf only

In the past I played alot of BF2 on the pc, but I've not really spent too much time in BF2142 (just dont like the setting as much as BF2). I haven't played BF2 in awhile though...After this thread I'm definitely itching for a few rounds of BF2.

I suggest that everybody, if they don't yet have it, get xfire.
For those who don't know, it's an in-game chat system.
Then apply for the clan on xfire.

Anark, I understand what you are saying, but I think it would be better to have the clan on SimV now that we have our own gaming section. Besides, I know that some people may not be allowed to use an instant messaging system like MSN or Xfire to talk to anyone but relatives, I am one of them.

And also, keeping it separate from this site will make the plan end up in cobwebs, like the SimV Clan website. Separating = less interest. At least, more people travel to the Cage section, therefore SPARKING interest. Wink
