I was already planning on a second card so those numbers are very encouraging.

If things stay on the current track I would say it will be a excellent solution. If 2 R680's in crossfire can defeat the Ultra in SLi at a much reduced cost then Nivida's crown will be removed. But they are coming out with their own version of the 8800 G92x2 as well.


I remember a year or more ago I made a joke about QUAD-FIRE, which is actually starting to be used now since the R680 in CrossX will be a Quadfire solution.

My motherboard is quadfire ready but the four boards would have to be single slot boards. I am not sure but I think the DFI board is spaced to hold four of the double slot cards.

Am thinking if you had four of the 3870X2 boards you might want to plug the computer into Hoover Dam to power it up.

I was looking at the pictures you linked to. If I went with the new board I would have to dust off my Silverstone case, there is not enough room in my Antec.
