The new upgrade to 2.2 looks great but one question though, those of us who don't have the luxury of huge widescreen monitors still can't see the whole of a screenshot pic at one time without having to scroll across. Any way this can be fixed in this new version?

Since the last upgrade that started this problem, SimV is the only forum i've found that cannot display a standard 800x600 pic whole at a normal resolution.

I'm useing 1024x768, no doubt you are at a higher res. However, those of us that use this very common res' will have this problem.

Yes, I am.  Grin I know what you mean though, on my old computer (1024x768) I had to scroll to see images.

At my standard 1024 X 768 resolution I experienced exactly the same problem with the previous Forum.

A standard screen-shot taken at 800 X 600 required a horizontal scroll to view the whole shot!

I had to post my screen shots at less than 800 pixels wide to enable the whole shot to be viewed without scrolling.

640 X 480 seemed a better choice.

Yes but reducing the resolution of a screenshot just compromises it's quality and no doubt would look very odd to those who do have big screens and a higher res'.

As a very big part of SimV is based around sceenshots and editing, surely being able to display them in a 'default' format should be a priority? It seems mad to me that, especially when very popular forums like the Screenshot Contest ask for pics to be at 800x600, people on a standard 1024 X 768 res' can't see the whole picture!

It's not like there's not enough room on the screen, i'd rather have a simpler format instead of having to scroll EVERY picture I see when there are huge fat borders and frames around it doing nothing!

I think this problem is caused by the size of the frame around the forum itself. The wide borders restrict the page width whatever the resolution. It's not new & showed up after the last forum upgrade. Maybe it can be changed this time.

PS. It doesn't bother me as I have a wide screen monitor running at 1440 x 900. This just means that the images look smaller.

1280x1024 and no probs... however I had to go on my mum's computer once, checked SimV, and since she is running on 1024x768, I got the scroll bar. Not a problem for me but I could see from that just how annoying it must be.

Maybe try copying any pics you see into irfanview? Laborious but a solution nonetheless... Wink

Very annoying. It's all down to this forum software having a 'fixed pane' window, whereas other forums are not limited by this. As screenshots are such a big part of SimV, i'm VERY dissapointed that nothing has been done about this since the problem appeared a while ago with the last upgrade.

I feel very let down by SimV over this, it's like they are saying 'If you don't have a large or widescreen monitor like we do, TOUGH!'.

I used to post a lot in the SS section but now don't bother as I can't see my own pics properly and can't see others' either. All I do now is one a month in the contest but i'd love to do more again.

He kind of has a point because now that you can post at 1024X768 the people at 1280X1024 have to scroll as well and honestly you really can't appreciate the screenshot when you are constantly scrolling Undecided

Thank You!

Are you listening yet SimV

Did you say something Simon ?  Roll Eyes

So, let me get this straight.
You are used to the "old" way that has been that way for many years.

Wide screens have since come out, higher resolution monitors have since come out, Simviation has grown a huge amount in the "Graphic Area" with photos, Screenart, etc..
And you are mad because you have to scroll.  Undecided

Heck, I am mad that my PC that I spent so much money on and worked great with FS9 can not handle FSX the same way! It is called moving forward.

The people who are annoyed are the people that are currently "stuck" with their present hardware. What about the many others that can handle the resolution and really enjoy seeing these shots at a higher resolution and who enjoy seeing them bigger? What, we are not allowed to move forward?

It seems to me that the people complaining are the ones who might need to upgrade in the future as with everything in FS, you need to keep up with the times.

So stop acting like you deserve the old way and that we aren't listening or how dare we change things...
I am sure if you had a new wide screen and rig, that you would happily accept the change.. change is good! Move with the times, a
Just think, while you are at it your pointing finger is getting a little workout!

We are moving forward and that is it....

ARE YOU LISTENING SIMONMD?
