I thought I was well-prepared to try to cover Cory's historic flight yesterday, but after getting there late, with the gate closed and the chopper already warming up, I discovered all three of my digicam batteries were about dead, as was the camcorder battery, and its backup.
I really need a personal assistant, I think...  Roll Eyes

But I got something, despite not being able to get onto the ramp without possibly causing a scene, in which case I'd be explaining instead of shooting... then they hover-taxiied to the other end of the field, so I leaped in the car and drove back there... as soon as I found an angle, they taxiied back, and took to the air for nearby South Jersey Regional.
Drove over there, but didn't see them. Drove back, and they were coming in, but of course my batteries were all kaput.

Roll Eyes    Cheesy

It was a blast to see it happen, though: our Willit did pretty good; probably better than I could. He was probably better off not having a bunch of fixed-wing hours.

Here they are: some grabs from a brief clip that might be posted- if Cory says OK.
I was surprised to see Hulk Hogan giving helicopter dual- a real Renaissance man, the Hulkster... Cheesy

Here's after they went back over to do some more ground maneuvers... not as close to the ramp as it looks, folks... but I was impressed. With the instructor's hand on the collective, C. did OK with the cyclic and pedals: hover-taxi forward, sideways... some pirouettes... good job!

I'd love to see that video too. Sadly we won't be able to hear the in-flight conversation:

Willitrun: Can I loop it now?

Instructor: NO!

Willitrun: and now?

Instructor: NO! And stop shaking the chopper that much!
