At Christmas and New Year I crossed the English Channel from Boulogne to Dover by catarmaran ferry. Nothing special about that except, a normal ferry from Dover to Calais takes about 1 1/2 hours to cross, this one takes 45 minutes to do a trip that is significantly longer, crossing at 36 knots. It is powered by water jets. Unfortunately the pictures just cannot convey the power and the feeling to be stood at the stern above it all.
As usual, taken with my cell/mobile/handy
Matt
Not my picture, but just to show what this ship looks like.

I certainley agree, im always messing around behind the Condor Ferry in Poole harbour on jet ski's/power boats in the summer! Insane piece of kit. Something like 56000hp if i remember right!
They can actually go faster that 45 knots when not loaded etc...which is insane when most powerboats etc top out at far less that that!

I took a boat like that last year from Okinawa Japan to Yokohama on my way to Mount Fuji and you aren't kidding, those jets really push the boat. Great shots
