I have a dear friend coming over in a couple of weeks and would love to have a beautiful B-17 for him .  He was the pilot of a B-17 shot down over Germany and was a POW .  Recently reitired from a top job with the FAA and and has lost his wonderul wife of many years .  Trying to convince him that he would thoroughly enjoy a simulator on his PC .  I have the Fuddy Duddy B-17 , but is not quite the quality I would like to have for him and is for FS2004 ( does work ) .  Milton Shupe has completely spoiled me with his fantastic work !!!Payware is fine .
Thanks ,
Jamie

A very high quality B-17 would be the payware one from Wings of Power.  The web site is http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=1157. ; It is designed for FS2004 and works in FSX.  As for a model for FS2002, try one of the CFS2 models from http://www.simviation.com/cfs2aircraft10.htm. ; I'm not sure how well it will work, but it should be able to be imported into FS2002.

Almost all the CFS2 aircraft are perfectly compatible with FS2k2. There are some lovely freeware models available.

...
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

To add to this point, if you look for the original "Wings of Power" boxed edition on ebay etc, which I believe was for FS2002/2004 in its original release...
