Nick, the Windows XP Pro disk I own comes with SP2 already. Should I still do the complete wipe and reinstall Windows and then get SP3 as soon as I reinstall it?

If we all do have to reinstall, how do we do it correctly? Is it just formatting the HDD with the Windows disk?

I would just clean install with the SP2 disk and after the drivers are in, update with SP3.. then update again from Windows Update getting all the other components needed

I usually make my own Windows install disk by slipstreaming the SP update into a copy the Windows XP install disk on my hard drive, then use Nero with the right boot bin file to make a new install CD that has the SP already in it. It makes life a lot simpler

I've noticed alot of people are afraid of any MS updates. I for one am looking forward to the service pack. It takes alot of time to update the system with 100 or so updates that have come out since SP2. The hot fixes and service packs are out for a reason and I for one am religous about installing every update that MS comes out with. The only difference now is that code has become sloppy since the demise of DOS.
