Let's really dig in here and get you on track. First of all, your first pic should be re-sized to 800 x 600. Let's have a look at your computer's specs and then we'll get started.  Wink

I'll try to dig up some advice I gave another new-ish screenartist recently 'cos I feel it could help here...

In addition to the advice I'm about to go off and find, there is one BIG plus to these shots, despite quite a few negatives which I think I can help with, but anyway; both have a scenario that they represent that, if engineered correctly, would make a screenshot someone would want to look at. You could have the most top-end system in the world, and as many payware add-ons as there are to buy, but if you don't have a scenario to base your screenshot(s) around it/they may well be rather dull. If you just had an airliner cruising wings-level at 30,000ft then the screenshot will not be very interesting. Whereas here, you have in the first screenshot a jet fighter at the moment of takeoff, and an airliner being intercepted by fighter jets. Those are scenarios that if worked correctly will make people want to see more.

Wink

Here we are; please note this advice was originally for another pic so some of the specifics may not be completely accurate but the basic advice stands as relevant;

"With the relatively small amount of space we are allowed for our shots (800 pixels max width) every space has to 'pay for itself' i.e. be interesting enough to warrant it being there. This shot has large swathes of background that simply aren't interesting enough.

Try to pack your shot with as much scenery, weather effects, interesting angles and so on as you can fit into it, and you should have a better shot than this."

Hope my past two posts have helped! Cheesy

Smiley thanks for the help

I looked at that too, its really odd, b/c I normally resize the picture, huh, must have hit the wrong key.

....specs, ooohhh god, i's been forever since I looked at that.

all I can tell you off the top of my headis that I'm running a 2-ish year old gateway laptop with a 120 gig hard drive with about 2 gig worth of memory...outside of that, nothing.

although, I pretty much have fs2002 maxed out, airports display all the lights and my overall scenery level is 2nd highest, thats only b/c it provides smoother flying.

EDIT: I looked at my card, It'd a ATI mobility Radeon X600, sorry when it comes to computer tech, i know little

Really I believe there are two options - get a better system, or perform some balancing on your current one. I know not the first thing about balancing - what's involved, how long it takes... you need to ask someone like 'NickN' (our resident computer genius) for advice there.

Given my extremely limited knowledge of computers for all I know there are some other methods you could use - I'm really not the person to ask as far as this department goes. Sorry. Wink
