I have been at school for a while and have not been on the computer for.... well since september and the past few days i have been pushing vertices on my Magni Vale.

Have you ever reached "that point" where you dont know where else to go, I also have learned that my driver causes my computer to crash while using Gmax, and i still cannot see the vertices! Cry

anywho here are a few pics of what it looks like now, i have the (prop)'s animated the wheels for rolling but not the tailwheel for rotation, the ailerons and the rudder, i have yet to cut out the elevators

...

...

...

...

...

I cannot "roll back" my drivers and my driver came with the machine so no disk, and santy claus aint into that stuff Sad

Undecided

Looking great!

I also found out that my crashing issue with 3dsmax was cause by an nvidia driver. It would run fine as long as I was working in max but if I minimized max and left it for a few minutes... It would almost always crash when I maximized it. I surfed the forums and many other people had the same problems and had found a stable driver that didnt cause max to crash.

Anyway your model looks great and it looks like its about time for a paint job.  Cool

EDIT*******************
To add to what I said about the driver issue... Try googling your problem and usually you will find people with the same issues trying to solve the problem on other forums. This is how I found out which nvidia driver I needed to keep 3dsmax stable.

BTW what type of video card do you have and what driver version?

Sweet...  If you need any pics of that engine, let me know.  They have one very similar (if not the same) out at Fantasy of Flight and I have an annual pass.  Like I needed an excuse...  Wink

well cockpit and engine photos would be nice, it would make it more realistic as i just thought of a couple average gauges and put them in, and decided thats what the seat looked like, and the engine is a modeled after pic of a gnome rhone 5 i found

progress is slow, i still cant see the vertices so i have to do everything by eye

Well, I can't help you on the cockpit, but I'm pretty sure they have that engine.  Which one is it again?

Falcon have you tried a different display Driver in Gmax?

If your display driver is set to DirectX I would try it with OpenGL and see what happens. I've noticed that using DirectX display driver in Max used to cause me a lot of crashes and lost work. I use the OpenGL display driver now and I don't crash nearly as often as I used to. 3dsMax and Gmax are basically the same program graphically and I would imagine that what works best in one, will be good for the other also.

As for finding out what version of drivers your video card is running, when was the last time you updated your drivers? Also you can find out by going to the device manager in My Computer/ System Properties and checking the info on your Display Adapter.

Good luck.

First go to 'Customize' then down to 'Preferences'

...

Make sure the 'Viewports' tab is selected, then go down to 'Choose Driver'

...

Then simply click on 'Open GL' click 'OK' to get out of there, and you're set...

Well thats great news!

I've always heard that Nvidia drivers beat the crap out of ATI in OpenGL, but are not so good compared to ATI in DirectX so I thought that might be your issue... Guess I was backwards.  Cheesy

I can only imagine how hard it would be to accurately model something with no visible vertices, but you have done a helluva job so far.

Keep it up and great work!

BTW I'm with Kevin on the whole kissing thing.... Grin
