2 Weeks ago I ask the webmaster to remove a illegal file (my newcaslte scenery that has been illegally copied and uploaded to your site)
The file is still there for download.
Can any of the moderators please contact me, or if you know what file Im talking about then please remove it. Its hard enough to make a living without these things appearing.

Are you sure Gary - I've just searched the main site and can't find any Newcastle (UK) scenery for anything above FS2002 (and that's an AFCAD file)?

I can't find it either. You might try deleting your History & Temp Internet files or refreshing your browser. You might be viewing an old page.

Would this thread
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1195842628
be the one?
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

This idiot got it wrong. As always the file was removed when it was 1st brought to my attention.
I presume this guy creates this scenery. I'll tell you one thing - I won't be buying anything with this name involved - ever.

Err. ok then thanks Pete
What exactly have I done wrong then?
I was getting customer's email me about this file, I tried my best to stop it, then you end up talking like this and calling me a idiot. The confussion was that when I clicked on the link it displayed "Download this file", so I thiought it was still there, but on the on second click it was indeed removed.
I did not what to give the exact link for obvious reasons. If it was deleted you could have reply to my first email then this would have not happened, life is too short to be rude to people.
Oh well, cant please everyone
Happy Xmas to you.

Gary, I am a big fan of your scenery but to suggest that this site is a 'pirate' site is out of order.

OK, Pete, let's take a deep breath and calm down...
We are now all on the same page, we know the file is gone, we are all happy, so let's try not to make current Anglo-American relations any worse, this is supposed to be a friendly board.
At least agree to disagree, I took a look at the site and the scenery is actually quite something.

Where did he say that?
Gary was understandably annoyed, as to his knowledge, the illegal file (bearing in mind that UK2000 sceneries are payware) hadn't been removed, and was simply enquiring as to why it hadn't been. As it was, it turns out there was a misunderstanding, and it had been removed. Calling him an idiot for making an honest mistake and bringing it to attention is what's out of order.

From the email he sent Pete, posted in the "payware" discussion:
Quote:
If I do not here from you then I will assume your website is pirate site

The problem was in the (to be polite - I've had enough of the Rhinoceros analogy)
direct
approach in which the enquiry was made. Haven't seen an apology or admission of
his
mistake either in not confirming that the file had indeed been removed.
A reputation of a website or forum can take years to form, yet can easily be destroyed across the web in a few hours, even if any allegations aren't based on fact - hence I can understand exactly why Pete
appeared to be
rather annoyed...

Didn't see the other discussion, so thanks for pointing that out.
But even so, if the admin of the site you have an issue with goes and calls you an idiot for what you've said (right, or wrong), it can hardly help the situation. Pete may not have heard of UK2000 before, but they are very well known (and respected, I might add), at least on this side of the Atlantic...

Pete Daly is one of the most generous people I know & he's done far more for the FS community over many years than most people will ever realise or acknowledge. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for this wonderful site & forum. Accusing him of being a pirate is like waving a red rag at a bull & his response was perfectly understandable.
Now can we please let this matter drop. Enough harm has been done already.

Misunderstandings happen people - I'm not gonna comment on who I believe was in the right - I don't have an opinion on the subject - but since we all KNOW it was a misunderstanding, can we therefore stop trying to blame someone. Like Hagar said, let it drop.
C'mon, it's christmas!! Everyone lighten up!!!!

I support pete in the fullest. Simv is one of the increasingly rare forums with
moral standards
. It's nice to actually have someplace to discuss something without some 15-19-year-old swearing at you about being a "complete ........ noob who should go...................". The Simv download site is an extension of the good attitude around here, pete is honest, but i'm sure he has a life to deal with as well, just like the rest of us. I don't mean to stir th pot, but this is the wrong site to be taking shots at!
Merry Christmas! And pete, long live simv!
