Decision made. Thanks to all those who applied! Applications closed ...
OK> We had a lot of very kind people offering to join the team & help keep this place one of the best forums on the Internet! SINCERELY appreciated! (Won't be forgetten either!!)
There were several runners up but in the end it has come down to
ROTTYDADDY (Sean) (US)
CHARLOTTESDAD (Rob)
(Eu)
Global location was also a significant factor.
Once again thank you to all of you who offered. And hang on in there - this is an ever changing world!
______________________________________________________________________________
Hi Guys!
OK with the passing of time we now require some more help keeping this place friendly, fun and moving in the right direction.
Put it another way - we could do with an additional moderator or 2
Here a few of the qualities & requirements of a moderator
1st it should be emphasised there is NO PRESSURE! It should be fun! You don't need to be here more than you naturally are anyway. It's just when you visit you have the option & power to modify. (+ you are given keys to the dungeon - the Admin forum !
)
The idea of moderators is to help make these forums a fun & friendly place for all visitors & members. This means the emphasis should be on helping the forum rather than policing.
If things get out of line, such as arguing, , judgment is required to lock the thread, remove an offensive post, etc. We generally discuss this down in the dungeon so you have plenty of support.
You have plenty of support from the other seasoned mods who know the ropes so again no pressures whatever.
You need to have a mature & reasoned approach to life.
You need to be prepared to take a middle road where people have differing opinions. The role of a moderator is not to take sides but to try to ensure respect for other members. The freedom to hold differing beliefs must also be respected. (It's fairly easy most of the time & this is why we discourage (not ban) people from talking religion or politics here)
If you think you may like to get involved please PM
Me
Dave
or
Mark
Thanks!

Could we recommend people to you?
Hello EGNX.
Thanks, but not worth it.
We have all recommended people in the Admin forum in the past only to ask them and have them surprisingly say no.
This is something that the individual needs to ask themself.
If we start getting recommendations, this thread will become a list of names that need to be filtered through.
Please, of you are interested in being a Mod, PM one of us so we can see who steps forward and who would be most qualified.
Thanks,
Dave

Yes, and the person you mention was considered and maybe even asked...
Did not happen.
That is why recommending people does not work.

Shame...Now what
We asked that person over 6-months ago so it is not really "now what".
We will see who contacts us and go from there...

I just hope that Admin make a good, sensible choice, and not select someone who is just out for the power and the glory, making a name for themselves, and exercising control over others!...
...!
(Similar to Politicians!...
...)...!
...and who are prepared to spend their time mostly unnoticed, in the background...(Like our Felix!...

Paul.....(..turned down the recommendation for the post of Corporal in the Army. Preferring to be liked/appreciated by my Army Mates instead! ...
...)...!
I was recently asked to be a Moderator on another Forum, (not Flight Sim related), and turned it down for the reasons stated above...

Being a mod is not a game wich you get a chief position, and like
Hey now Im the chief here don't mess up with me or else
No, for the contrary is a hudge responsability, is like a non paid jod ,First to be connected to the forum all the time and to move topic wrong posted thing in its right place, is to Deal with Impartiality among members ,like the monthly screenshot contest ,to deal with spammers,everyday..
I've seen all the troubles fly2e making a strong efford for not to lost the patient with it, To extinguish fires when are wars between members , is more to serve and try to put the orther in this place and look Sharp and calm, when sometimes thunderstorm strikes here, is to be a little psicologyst ..this is not easy
Is like Being a policeman in a prision (of lunatics) and be a friend at the same time..not easy.
This are just my thoughts ,maybe I'm wrong..

I'm fully aware of the duties Alejandro.. I'm the last person who wishes to gain anything from it, all I want to do is help pete and the current mods keep this the best FS forum on the net. I personally love this place and the people who frequent it and if I can put a little bit back for all the help it's given me over the past 3 years then I'd be happy to accept a job as moderator, if offered. If not, then I'll still enjoy the forum and carry on regardless..

Cheers lads.. I've just come home from the pub after watching the footy.
What a nice surprise.
I honestly didn't think I'd be chosen, I'm not exactly the most prolific poster here...

Wow, I am humbled... this is a terrific site, and in return for it helping me maintain my sanity, I will now be handing out straightjackets and mopping up...
Time to put some Montovani on the ol' phonograph and get to work!

Sean you can keep your James Last collection to yourself
We won't be publishing a runners-up list but it wasn't an easy decision and a lot of pros and cons were discussed. Not a decision taken lightly

Good evening all...
A little late in congratulating the new Moderators but they had this electronic gizmo all apart for the better part of a day to figure out why I had no navigational lights and rotating beacon. I posted all this in Flight Simulator X and still have the same problem.
Congratulations fellas and good luck in all your endeavours.
Oh Sean does this mean that you get an aircraft from Simviation to fly around to visit members with, perhaps to give them a warning or two or just to say how wonderful it is to have them as members?
What a novel way to build flying time buddy and of course they will have to give you something that will get you across the big pond with.
Any time Sean you are going across the big pond to visit our U ro pee an members, just call me I will love to go along and I shall supply the onion and cheese sandwiches.
Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
