Well this past weekend was my Daughter's dance companies Holiday Dance Show 2007. She had a total of four parts she did. They are in the order she dance them on stage. The first one was the Doll scene where she was a Teddy Bear. This was a solo part as the three girls that did Doll each waited to the other was done. Then she was Chinese, Spanish and the last one was the Jazz Company dance.
The first part of the show were parts taken from Nutcracker and the second was the different companies doing their routines.
As always I'm so proud of her!!!
Enjoy!!

Willit has installed small shock plates in her heels. So any time she rests her feet flat, she gets a little encouragement
great shots mate, you must be very proud.

Shhhhh!!!! Your not suppose to give away my secret!!!!!
With lots of practice and exercise!! It takes alot of discipline in that this is something you really want to do because it isn't easy and you can damage your feet if you don't do it properly and have the right fit with your pointe shoes. We just took her to New York Cityon Monday to have a pair of pointe shoes custom fitted and have to go back Saturday to pick them up. ( I have some pictures of the city i'll post later!! ) It is also a big expence but worth every penny when we see her dance!!
Thank you for the comments and yes very proud!!!!!

yeah, i play guitar myself, so i got a feeling for rythm, but dancing is waaaay out of my league, i tryed it once with a bunch of friends that do dance.. Well, they had a great laugh, to put it that way. It is incredibly hard to keep moving with the right speed and right distance. The way your daughter is dancing must be even harder!!

It's not uncommon for a Ballerina to take her pointe shoes off and they're foot would be bleeding!!

I know i couldn't do it!! It take a whole lot of training and exercises to do it the correct way so you don't hurt your feet.

Thank you!! I take the pictures without flash so with her moving and doing what I can do with the settings about 5 out of 50 turn out. I need a DSLR!!!! I'm trying to convince my Wife that I can get better shots with a DSLR and a nice 75 - 400mm lense!!
It's not working to good at the moment!!!!

Yep, you do need a dSLR... and an expensive 2.8 diaphragm lense... better not tell the misses about that last part...

FYI a more expensive camera won't help too much. At best it will only get you 7 out of 50 shots. Unless you spend the extra money on a camera with higher quality, higher speed ISO's and a lens with a 2.8 F-stop the results will still be the same
Principals of photography adhere to any camera no matter how expensive. I wont tell your wife though as DSLR's are great and you should get one

Outstanding photos!
I feel your pain about not having a DSLR. I hate not being able to manually focus.
