One of my good friends has been flying for a while now, and today he invited me along for a cross country with his instructor from Sky Manor to Reading. A nice, short trip. He and I got some breakfast at Sky Manor while we waited for his instructor to show up (N40 has some delicious pancakes, by the way. Never had breakfast there). After that, we got underway.

Taking the active on two-five.
...

Some time later, we flew over this airport. I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. Maybe someone can shed some light? It's a golf course catered specifically to pilots. Neat idea, even though it seems very far-fetched.
...

Even more time later, we turn final into Reading on three-one.
...

My buddy with his steed, Four Seven November. I'll be flying with her come springtime.
...

Then, after lunch at RDG we get underway again. Winds shifted so we took off on one-eight.

A great day, full of friends, food, and aviation. Cool

The mystery airport is Butter Valley... pretty easy to figure out by just looking at a chart (it's the only airport with a more-or-less north/south runway along a straight-line course from N40 to RDG).  Grin
Golf and pilots do go together very well, although personally I'd rather watch paint dry than play golf. Grin
Golf courses can make excellent emergency landing strips, so I'm always happy to see them.
But that kind of setup is pretty rare in the Northeast... it's even called the "Butter Valley Golf Port". Cheesy

What a gorgeous day for flying... perfect! That's great that your friend will let you come along; take advantage of that.
Good luck with the lessons, and feel free to call me any time if you need some ballast. I'll keep my mouth shut and I'll buy the pancakes! Grin

As the prototype Vought Corsair (the WWII version!) found out... Smiley

Thanks for taking us along James...wonderful shots.

Sean I used to play barn yard billiards for years, then my buddy who I went with all the time passed away and I lost all interest in the game.
I can bowl, play golf but there is no way I can sit and watch them on television or anywhere else.  Wink

Good luck James on your flying and have fun.  Smiley

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
