If engine development stops after this year, will there be research into CVT's? Are there any regs forbidding it?
More fuel efficient, and faster, if the teams build one that could withstand the torque of an F-1 engine, they would have an advantage.

Tried in the past (Renault-Wiliams + DAF) and banned already

re-useable energy is the next step. Energy used from braking will be returned to the engine in a storage capacity for useage as a power boost type system.
Although I'd like your idea in F1.
