Happy Birthday. Smiley

That battery shouldn't take long to charge. Look forward to seeing your first efforts. Smiley

Ah yes, good choice Kris  Cool

Can I recommend.....

A spare battery

A cheap wide aperture lens

A superb flash unit

And anything that goes up to 400mm  Grin

Good luck, still having loads of fun with mine  Wink

beat you to those recommendations Wink

I would recommend a Hahnel battery grip coming with 2 spare batteries.....it costs about £50 but makes the camera so much easier to hold Smiley

Happy birthday, Kris. Great camera by the way. Would love to have one like that. Unfortunatly it's a bit out of my price range.

The Fantastic Plastic lense is on my list for the next couple of months... I'll need the speedlite too, in a while...

400 mm lenses are out of my reach at the moment. And I'll think about the grip and batteries...

Well, there's a package deal at Saturn, Mediamarkt at the moment, containing the Eos 350D + kitlense at € 399,00 In Belgium. Could be interesting. But hey, it's not just the camera. Buying one means that you'll be spending more cash soon... as I've noticed...  Grin

I would 2nd this recommendation, I use the 400D and the Batt Grip helps a ton, It adds a little weight, but makes stable vertical shots so much easier. and I personally, have 4 total batteries, two in the grip, and two charged or charging at all times.. But thats all up to the Need - (I currently live at the Grand Canyon and dont really have a place to Charge up the batteries when hiking down the canyon)

Either way, the Grip defiantly helps out.. If you do end up getting one, Be sure you have controls on the end..  (Shutter etc..) not just one that is the Grip (Simply holding two batteries and serving no other real purpose.)

I see you have mastered the self-timer mode and taken a picture of your new camera with itself..........one thing you may want to look into is a remote of some sort if the Canon supports one......it's not just a gimmick, actually it's a very handy tool....
